Those little areola bumps...

I know theyre generally normal, but I have this one thats really sore and is like twice the size of all the others. I tried putting a warm compress on it but it still really hurts! Anyone else have this happen? any ideas on what I can do to de-swell it?

  • Warm, moist heat is the best thing to do for that.  If it really starts to increase in size, get red, swollen, more painful, then I would have it looked at.  Those little glands produce sebaceous oil that help keep your areolas "lubricated".  It is possible you have a blockage. Keep an eye on it.

  • Ouch, that doesn't sound too comfortable.  I've had similar skin issues in other places and a couple of days of a hot washcloth compress really helps the swelling go down, and if my clothing is going to irritate it, I tend to cover it with a bandage+neosporin.  I don't know how practical that last part is in the booby area though??!  Hope it gets better for you soon.

  • I use to squeeze on the bigger ones when they would get swollen and some white paste would come out. I wouldn't suggest it if you are afraid of it getting further blocked but my midwife suggested putting baking soda and water on it for 2x15 mins a day. This should help bring it to the surface.
