Delurking today as I have finally told family.
I'm a Canadian currently living overseas and this will be our second (DS turns 3 in October).
I won't be on here worrying over dying my hair or eating sushi or caffeine consumption (already got my fill first time around on the bump).
I am, however, interested in eating well, staying relaxed and baby preparation that does not involve shopping (see my blog in siggy for more on that).
Any expat moms on here??
PS. Congratulations to all of you! Wishing you healthy pregnancies.
PPS. If my ticker isn't showing yet my EDD is January 23.
PPPS. FTM - don't move at 8 months pregnant. Trust. It. is. a. nightmare.
Re: Hello and any expat moms out there?
Hi bandwife! I'm an expat! I'm an American who has been living internationally for going on 6 years. DH is Canadian (also has Italian citizenship). This is our first we are both anxious and excited about having our baby in a foreign county. Congratulations it's great to have a fellow expat in the group as our experiences will be significantly different from those having a baby in their home county.
this decaf life: how exciting! Will you be moving before the baby arrives?
Yep, should be quite different for us. I'm in a UK territory so the healthcare system is somewhat similar to Canada. But it is way different culturally. Very few women breastfeed here so I'm already preparing myself for being a loner on that one.
6 years internationally? Wow. You must love the expat life. We do too. Not sure how long we will be over here but we are really enjoying it. Love all the opportunity to travel. Both that we're so close - no transAtlantic flights - and that there is so much vacation time. My DH gets 5 weeks plus another 10 stat holidays.
