Anyone do consignment?

I'm planning on getting rid of my maternity clothes. I was going to just give them to Goodwill, but then thought I should try to get a few bucks off them. I've never done consignment, so what can I expect?  The clothes are all Gap.

It depends on the consignment store.  Some charge an initial consignor's fee.  Different ones give different percentages.  Most of the ones around here can look at the tags and see when the garment was made/what season it was from.  If it is more than 1-2 years old, they may not take it.  I've done a few of DD's stuff on consignment.  Also, we have some consignment sales pop up a couple times a year.  You contact the person in charge, get a seller number, and bring your stuff at a certain.  Sale last a few days and then you pick up your money/stuff you didn't sale.

Here, anyways, I don't get a ton for stuff, its only worthwhile if you take the store credit (which means you have to want to shop there, too...whichis OK depending on the selection/quality) and they are super picky about seasonal/trendy stuff that they can resell....although i haven't tried specifically with maternity clothes as we hope to have another

Where i live they are pretty picky on what they will take (season, wear and tear etc.) then you get a percentage of what you've sold. (our is 40%).

I consigned a couple of formal dresses once.
I ended up just getting one of the dresses back, because the store went out of business. 
The owner lost my other dress.
