Wednesday afternoon S woke up from his nap with a 105 fever. I called his dad and we headed to the emergancy room. They took us right in because his breathing was very fast (it was at 60, which is even high for newborns). The dr checked him out and found his throat was a bit infected. We were sent home with an antibiotic and signs to watch for for meningitis.
Yesterday morning I took E to see the pedi (for the first time, they always go to our family dr for their regular checkups), this was also at the er. Turns out he has reflux and the dr was concerned with his weight gain. He said he could perscribe something for the reflux but that it would only take care of the acid his spitting up would NOT decrease or we could try rice cereal when he is 4 months old. We decided to go with the cereal (I didn't want to start solids until 6 months but it was better than giving him medication), the dr said it will also help with his weight gain.
Then yesterday afternoon S woke up with a fever of 107 so his daddy brought us to the er again. They again took him right in because of the fever and his breathing. The dr ordered bloodwork and after 2 hours of waiting for the results (with 2 tired, screaming lo's) we got the results. Everything looks fine. Thank God because if things looked off he was getting a spinal tap. So back home we went and if it doesn't improve today he is to go back. So far things have been good. He has been back to his normal crazy self.
Now hopefully we can stay away from the hospital for a LONG LONG time.
Re: The past 48 hours have been from he double hockey sticks
That's a scary high temp. Glad he seems to be feeling a bit better!
