Trying to Get Pregnant

Just got back from OB and a question (Kinda long. sorry)

Hi All,

I posted a week or so ago asking what questions to ask my OB during my annual visit. (Background, we are getting into Cycle 10/Month 10 without a BFP).

I had my appt today and my OB was very helpful.  I told her about my 10 day LP and that I have significant spotting every month, sometimes starting as early as 5-6 DPO. She is suspecting a progesterone deficiency and said that I would probably have a hard time getting KU on my own without help.  She seemed happy that I knew a lot about my cycles and understood the Luteal phase and the timing we should be aiming for for sex.

She suggested CD21 bloodwork but quickly explained that while this is what many docs call it, it should not always be taken at CD21 unless the patient O'd on day 14, which many do not. Since I was at 8DPO this morning (CD28), she went ahead and had me get BW done to check thyroid and progesterone.  She also is having me do an ultrasound to check for cysts just in case but she said she doesn't suspect anything there.

She said if her suspicions are correct, she would likely prescribe Clomid for a few days early in my cycle (Hopefully the lowest dosage) and that I would come back in for BW at 7DPO while on the Clomid. Does that seem like adequate "monitoring"? Is there anything else I should suggest?

 Thanks in advance.

  • No, that is not adequate monitoring.  Not only that, but you haven't even had proper testing done.  U/S, HSG, and a SA for your husband.

ETA: Proper monitoring (after testing is done), would be CD 3 b/w and u/s, mid cycle monitoring (maybe CD 10-12) and another 7DPO P4 draw

  • I don't have a lick of advice - but I wanted to say good luck! I think it's so smart of you to have gone in knowing when you Oed, and what your cycle length is.  That has to make the dr's job easier, and get you on the road to a BFP sooner.

Fingers Xed for you - I hope it's a fairly easy thing to regulate to get you back on track.
