DH and I both love Keira for a baby girl. But I'm wondering if it sounds odd with our last name, Benoit, pronounced Ben - wha ("wha" like the word "what"). I wish it didn't sound so rhymey, but we really like this name! Would you throw out this name because of this?
Also we are stumped on a middle name. I'm not a fan of the "filler" middle names like Mae, Rae, Grace, Jane, and Claire. Any suggestions?
Re: Keira & Middle Names
I think the FN and LN sound fine together.
For a MN...what about: Elise, Isobel,or Nicole?
I don't think it sounds rhymey.
Keira Violet
Keira Elizabeth
Keira Gabrielle
Keira Alexis
I don't think it sounds bad.. Keira Delaney, Keira Emmeline, Keria Bridget, Keira Meredith
I would not worry too much about how it goes with the last name because most of the time they are only going to call her by her first name and not attempt that last name. I love Keira. I only have one mn suggestion but my typical go to mn is Alexis. I feel like it goes well with a lot of names. Good luck!
Keira Josephine
Keira Gabrielle
Keira Lillian
Keira Noelle
Keira Danielle
Keira Scarlett
Keira Faye
Keira Juliet
I've really been liking Elise lately. Thanks!

Actually where I live it's a fairly common last name, so fortunately most people know how to say it!

Oh really where do you live? Va girl here. I don't think it rhymes though so I think it is still a great name!
Louisiana. My DH's grandfather or greatgrandfather (can't remember which) was from France, but there are a lot of people here with our last name that are Cajun-French.

I think it sounds fine with your last name. My name is Keara Paige (pronounced like Keira), and I've always thought it had a nice flow. And FWIW, I definitely think that Keira is the best spelling of the options out there.
Have you considered using any family names in the middle name spot?
I like the name combo. With middle names be careful of vowels that elide. Like Keira Elise which if you pronounce quickly sounds like Keirelise. Names that start with a consonant stop that.
I see what you mean, and I've thought about that before, but what I like about Elise is that it kind of breaks up and elongates the name between Keira and Benoit. Keira and Benoit are both two syllable names with a strong consonant beginning sound, and I like how Elise bridges the two. If that makes sense?
