birth control? wwyd? quick answers needed

I haven't taken my pill for a few days because I use mail order and ran out before my new supply was available & arrived.  today af appears to have arrived but so did my new supply of pills.  I have only been using the active pills to try to avoid af.  so do I wait until Sunday to start the pack of pills since that's the day it starts with on the pack or start tonight since i'm trying to avoid af as it is?  my body is still adjusting and as it is I am spotting most of the time (not enough to need a liner and varies from obvious blood to brown ewcm, sorry tmi).  wwyd?

I'm hoping I can get some quick responses because I typically take my pill before bed and am about to go to bed for the night. tia

  • In the past I always just went ahead and took the active ones even if I had begun to spot.
  • You don't have to start on the day it says on the pack, as long as you keep track. Don't they usually come with stickers so you can take the first pill and just make it say the day that happens to be??

But you should start the active pills about 5-7 days after your last active pill (whenever you ran out). You could start the active pills any time sooner than that but it won't stop your withdrawal bleed now so there's not much point.?

  • I am not an expert, but I would say if you took an active pill tonight, your period would probably stop tomorrow or the next day.
