I'm having a hard time keeping up. Anyone care to share how you keep it all together cleaning-wise? What is your cleaning schedule and when do you get it all done?
It just gets so overwhelming. Basically, I have 3 to clean up after. DH, LO and myself. DH can help, and he realizes I need help. So we are trying to work on this. He cleaned the bathroom and loaded the dishwasher a few days ago, also took out the trash. If he could start doing stuff like that more often, it would be so much easier and if I could stay on top of everything it would help so much.
i'm like ridiculously anal about cleaning- it's sad. I don't know how i would keep up in a big house, I have a manageable apartment and a lot of time to get things done. We have like daily stuff- like dishes and keeping the kitchen clean are a daily thing. We vacuum once or twice a week and clean the bathroom once a week (or more if needed). I dust real quick once a week and go through everything seriously once a month. I do one load of laundry every other day. I designate one day bi-weekly to monthly for deep clean/organize. It's a 2 bedroom apartment so it's manageable and I'm able to keep up on things, so I have it easy.
I'm horrible about cleaning, especially the decluttering part. Glad this post was started... hoping one of the suggested sites will help me get on top of things.
The idea behind my schedule is that I do one room a week night. You can move around as need be. I put my less dirtier rooms on nights where I know I have something to watch on TV or just a lazy day. Or like kitchen is the night before trash pick up.
The first time you do it, it may take longer but the following week it is only about 30 min. because the room never really gets that dirty where you are scrubbing.
Schedule looks like this:
Monday is living room: pick up, dust, sweep, and mop
Tuesday is main bathroom: tub, toilet, sink, sweep, and mop
Wednesday is kitchen: wipe down cabinets, counter tops, appliances, microwave inside and out, sweep, and mop
Thursday is laundry room/pantry: wipe down machines, pick up in pantry (my family tends to leave empty boxes, etc), fold any left over clothes (while watching TV after kids are in bed, and put away.
Friday is Caleb's room: dust, hang up clothes in closet (SO makes a mess in his closet pulling out clothes, sweep, and mop.
Sat is Mia's room: pick up toys, dust, closet, sweep, and mop.
Sunday is our room and bathroom.
Daily things are: dishes, pick up toys from living room, wipe counters, sweep kitchen
Things like windows and stuff like that get done either monthly or every couple of months. SO helps. The schedule was his idea because we used to argue about it. Now he knows what the goals are. Not everything gets done as planned but we have a plan.
Thanks for sharing your schedule! This sounds managable for me. Hubby is technically off Tues and Thurs. So I can see what he would like to do to help on those days. He works around 50 hours and I work 28 hours... but still, I am technically always "on call" because I am a Mom lol. So he has to understand that. And I think he does. We've never sat and talked about the chores, we really need to.
We're just both bad at getting the cleaning done. I was one of those kids whose mom always picked up after her (bad, I know). Hubby never had to do any picking up either. The most I ever had to do as a kid was laundry. I'm not trying to blame my parents, I know I'm a grown woman and need to get it done. But I wish I had that background to get off my butt and get it done asap, instead of letting it build up and stress me out. I also never had to cook or anything. But since LO got off baby food, I've learned to cook and am good at it.
Re: Need help with cleaning schedule :/
I don't keep it together. It's something I'm trying to change. I even made a calendar, but have yet to stick to it.
This is the blog I got my cleaning schedule from. https://www.time2saveworkshops.com/2012/04/the-mother-of-all-cleaning-schedules.html It seemed like it was a good idea at the time, I just haven't been able to put it into practice.

ETA: Thanks for all the tips so far!
