It's going to be for me more than anyone else, to help me stick to my decisions. I will put on it that I want to go completely natural, with no interference. I don't want to be induced unless it's necessary. Of course, I want LO to be out as safely as possible, and if that means I have to have an induction, episiotomy, c-section, etc, then I will.
I know a lot of ladies on here will tell me I'm wasting my time for writing one because everything changes, you have to go with the flow, what if something happens, etc. I know all of this, but the hospital I go to likes to do inductions and c-sections like it's cool. Out of 7 of my friends, friends of friends, and co-workers who have had babies in the past year or so, only one of them got to go natural. The only reason they didn't try and interfere was because her labor went so quick. She was in labor for a total of three hours, and was only at the hospital for 45 minutes before her baby was there. Three were c-sections and three were induced. And of those three who were induced, two of them almost had to have c-sections because they tried the vacuum and it popped off their baby's heads.
I just don't want to be bullied like my friends and co-workers were. I want LO to take her time if she needs it, and I don't want to rush anything. Any support you ladies could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Re: I've decided to write a birth plan
I just hope that you write it as well as the one that Meg_Meg found.
That one is still making me giggle.

I saw this one and I was thinking about modeling mine after it. It's effing awesome. Actually this is what got me started on thinking I should write one. Lol!
In my birthing class they are asking us to write one, telling us how beneficial they are for everyone at the hospital to have. I don't really want to...mainly because I don't want it to hold me back or make me disappointed bxs things didn't go my way. I agree it might be nice to have for my own reference, but I wouldn't want to pass it out to everyone at te hospital...
Wha?
They talked about them in our birthing class as well, and I really appreciate the information, but I will not be sitting down and writing a formal one. It did, however, provide H and I the chance to talk about what we (I) would prefer to happen during the process, which is good since he'll be the one advocating for me if/when I can't for myself.

Take this as a lesson learned. If you don't have a birth plan, your baby will have multiple heads which will fall off if a vacuum extraction is attempted.

I THINK she meant the vacuum popped off OF the baby's head. Not like. Literally popped the baby's head off. Bad wording!
LOL! I read that like the babies' heads actually popped off, like dandelions! Oh the power of the English language and its punctuation... haha
i did too! i sat here going...ummm....
Oh!!! Hahahaha, I was really confused and quietly thinking "crap, is this somthing else I don't know about labor"
...still silently laughing to/at myself...
OMG! I am sitting here laughing so hard that tears are streaming down my face. I know OP didn't mean that the baby's heads popped off, but for some reason that statement just made me die.
I think birth plans are really helpful to you and to the staff to keep you on the same page as far as your *preferences* go. My doctor encourages me to write one and my hospital will ask if I have one as soon as I get there in labor.
