My husband has not been overly helpful in the name department. That being said he has decided on a name that I'm not so sure about. He wants to name our little girl Elaina Dallas!!!! I need to point out that he is obsessed with the Dallas Cowboys for whatever reason. I don't know what to do. He keeps saying that Bryce Dallas Howard has it as her name and he really likes it. Also, we were watching Teen Mom yesterday and there was a girl on there named Dalis, spelled differently but pronounced the same.
I feel bad telling him no because he is so excited about it. I need opinions and advice ladies!! I think it would be totally different if he wasn't such a Cowboys fan. Maybe I am overreacting. Help!!!
Re: Ok ladies...I need help!!
If it were me...I'd probably just let him have it. But you don't have to do that if you don't like it. Naming should be a joint process. Just be honest with him about your feelings. Say you'd like to discuss names more and that you'd appreciate it if you could both agree to be more open to one another's suggestions.
I understand! My husband is a Cowboys fan too! We live in NOVA and wish I could root for the home team the Redskins but they have been pretty awful. So I am just a NFL fan ; )
Anyways we have had this discussion and made a comprise if we have another boy the middle name could be Cadence (it could go for a girl middle name too)
What is a quarterback's 'cadence'?
A cadence is the quarterback's cadence. He'll come up to a line of scrimmage and it's a verbiage used on the offense in order to snap the ball. He might go, "down, radiate, radiate, set hut" and that's a cadence. And every team has a different cadence. In Pop Warner it's "down set hut one." But as you get older the cadences get more specific and tells you when the ball is going to be snapped.
Try asking him about something like that! It's a little more timeless & a show for the love of the game!

I like it...
Can you change the spelling? Like, Dalis instead of Dallas--maybe use that as a compromise.
I would pick your battles...we had to settle on our dd's middle name for my mother in law. I was upset, but honestly, we never use it and I adored her first name, so much that the middle name didn't matter.
