My DS has had a very minor cough for a few weeks. No congestion, fevers, etc. I was telling a friend about it & she referred to it as the "daycare cough.". She said its very common in.babies who are new to dc. Does this really exist?
DS is in DC and had a lingering cough for 5 days so I took him to the pedi. Turns out he had brochiolitis, which lasted almost 10 days. When finally prescribed the nebulizer it went aways in 4 days.
Personally I did not like the lingering cough and I have never heard of a DC cough, there are no other babies coughing in his room. I would make an appointment to the pedi, these coughs can get serious.
I've heard of "daycare cough" before. DS (13 months) had a wet cough most of the winter. I took him to the pedi probably 4 or 5 different times but it didn't go away (even with neb treatment) until cold and flu season was over. He did have bronchiolitis/RSV twice but there wasn't a lot they could do to treat it. I think it's worth getting checked out but probably nothing serious.
