Painful Kicking On Left Side?

I've had a look through some of the previous threads on the boards, but haven't found anything significantly matching/close to a good description of this feeling. And, I know you aren't doctors, but perhaps someone could shed some light, TIA!

I've been sleeping on my right side the majority of my pregnancy so far (I'm 27 weeks) so hadn't noticed this too much until recently. The more I lay on my left side the more often I'm getting a sharp pain in my side. It seems to feel like the baby is kicking hard (nothing unusual in that case), but when he does on that particular side it's like nothing else i've felt.

 Any ideas?

Side note: This does not feel like RLP. It only happens during these "kicks" and is level with my naval.
