Babies: 9 - 12 Months

LO fighting both naps now?

For the past five days, LO has been fighting both morning and afternoon naps. He has also started sleeping in about 45 mins later, so I have adjusted the times on his naps...but still cries and cries. I put him down when he is acting tired/fussy, then he cries and will carry on. Eventually I go get him, bring him back out to play a bit longer and its like he was never tired. Plays and is as happy as can be....any ideas? He will be nine months in a few days, isnt he too young for just one nap? (He still doesnt sttn, not sure if that helps answer my question) thanks!! Re: LO fighting both naps now?

  • I don't think he is too young for one nap in the afternoon as long as it is a longer one.

You could also move his bedtime up if needed.

    Sorry, probably not much help

  • I would limit his first nap to about an hour. Second one to an hour and a half. That should help.

  • My daughter started doing this the day she turned 9 months. Now she's almost 11 months and completely fights any naps. The only way she will nap is if she's in the car. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, she'll fall asleep nursing. Otherwise she just freaks out until we get rescue her from the crib.

  • My son's fought sleep since he was 3 months old and discovered his feet :) On a "good" day at daycare, he'll take 2 45 naps. At home, he usually does better. I walk him around the house and bounce him up and down singing the beverly hillbillies theme song. Don't ask me why, but it works.
