Morning Ladies! We so rarely get a vacation. Last one was over a year ago and mixed in with a national bowling trip for DH so not a total couple's vacation, and the one before that was with the in laws...so this is really our first alone vacation since our honeymoon three years ago. We booked a trip to Vegas for October. And yes, I know it's three month away, but I'm getting excited.
I was in Vegas once for three days (before DH's friends all flew in for his bachelor party and I left). And we stayed in old downtown. Only saw the strip one day. And again....it was for the national bowling tournament (so sad this becomes our annual vacation...me and ten guys that bowl LOL). But this time, no bowling, no beer-gut bowling buddies, just me and DH staying on the strip.
I'm looking for ideas of what to do, see, or places to eat at. Anything come to mind that's not the typical "see the fountains at Bellagio" (done that, plan on it again). We're planning a dinner at Bobby Flay's Mesa grill and a stop at Fat Burger. We're not show people, so no Cirque for us. And we're too old to go clubbing. Anything aside from that that you'd recommend?
Re: N3TR - Vegas ideas?
Hmmm...let me see, we just celebrated our anniversary in Vegas in April and had a great time (but it was sooo HOT). It was my first, DH has been several times. We are not clubbers/show type of folk either. We did a lot of sightseeing during the day/night, hung out at the pool of course, and lots of shopping and eating. There's so many new celebrity chef restuarants, but some are a bit pricey!
We really liked Todd English P.U.B. at Crystals and hung out at a lot of the swanky bars at The Aria and Cosmopolitan Hotels (although we didn't necessarily drink a ton either)
I really enjoyed Penn & Teller.
Otherwise, I would definitely recommend eating at the French Restaurant in the Paris, it's called Mon Ami Gabi. It was seriously the best meal I've ever eaten.
I loved Penn & Teller!! Penn is hawt!!
And older than my dad I found out lol.
Go to Diablo's, its next door to Monte Carlo. The food is amazing. They have alright drinks, but go for the food!!
Go to the Pawn Stars pawn shop, it's called Gold & Silver pawn. It's pretty cool, especially if you watch the show
Retro Bakery, isn't on the strip, but it has the most amazing cupcakes I've ever had. Holy cats!
Ethel M Chocolate Factory in Henderson is great. And they have a gorgeous cactus garden.
Go to Caesars and play the Hangover slot machine. It's a hoot.
Titanic at the Luxor was breathtaking.
Main Street Station has a brewery inside and H loved the beer. The food is cheap as it's by Freemont, and it's fun.
Sirens of TI was fun, pretty hokey, but fun.
Anything else, just ask lol. We play tourist up pretty well

Thanks Emmy! DH wants to go to the Pawn Store shop and pawn something (anything really just to say he did) but my understanding it's pretty far down from the strip that we'd def. have to take a cab.

I love going down town. You can hop from casino to casino so easily and gambling is waaaay cheaper down there. Also, there's a brewery in Main Street Station called 777. It has the best beer and hot wings!
I also saw someone mentioned Zumanity. We aren't show people either, but saw this and loved it!
If you like county music, The Toby Keith Bar at Harrah's is our favorite!!! It's a great bar and they have live country music every night.
Other than that...there's always shopping!! Vegas has like 3 outlet malls and they are awesome! My favorite is the Vegas Premium Outlets.
Have fun!!!

If you haven't booked a hotel yet try Mandalay Bay. They had grand suites last week for $120. Their pool is to die for. If you can get a cabana they are so worth it. The last time we went I was going down to the pool just before 10am and as I walked by the cabana check-in I heard they were releasing cabanas that people hadn't checked in to. There were 3 left and I was the third person to jump in line. It was $50 but so nice to have dedicated servers all day, shade, a fridge and misters.
I love vodka so we always go to Red Square. The ice bar is cool to see and the food is good too.
I love the Fashion Show Mall and the Forum at Caesars too.
We did the Scoot City tour to red rock and that was pretty fun. You drive a small little scooter car, nice 5 hr break from the city. Can be pricey but check for groupon offers.
Also recommend going to the top of the Eiffel tower at night to re-watch the hellacious fountains, can usually find a half price or boho coupon. We really enjoyed the Terry Fator show, very funny.
Have fun!

We will be staying at Bally's because we'll get all four nights free (yes, clearly we gamble too much, that they will let us stay for free). But DH really does want to see the Ice Bar again, I didn't go to it last time (he was on a business trip and his vendor took him).

Um, I meant the Bellagio fountains, in no way are they "hellacious" (darn i-pod).
We also stayed at Bally's and that's where we got the coupon book for the Eiffel tower ride and some other decent coupons. I'm a saver, so appreciated those. Not sure what your style is, but I rather enjoyed the "Big Elvis" show at Bill's Gambling Hall just across from Bally's. It's a free show, he plays on a small stage by the bar, so we just grabbed a drink and enjoyed. I just thought it was fun to sit and relax and enjoy the cheesiness of it, but he is talented to so it was enjoyable. And I thought the Sugar Factory in Paris was pretty fun too - we just got candy and frozen hot chocolates there, no dinner or anything. Convenient since Paris is connected to Bally's. Ok, enough rambling about my trip - sigh - wish I could back sooner rather than later.
