Pregnant after a Loss

Add another BFP!

Hello Ladies!

I had an uneventful pregnancy resulting in my DD born 5-8-10, and then unexpectedly lost a DD @ 17 weeks (D&E) on 1-6-12. Last month we decided not to avidly try to ttc (i.e. charting/temping) but to just let things happen on their own. Looks like we got pregnant first try! Got a BFP yesterday and again this morning. I'm so happy and excited, but I'm also so nervous. I am far more worried this time- was never like that with the others. Is it going to be this way for the next 9 months? After having a second tri. loss, there is no "safe when you reach this date" anymore for me. How do I keep from going worry crazy? I know these are questions you can't really answer; I guess I just want to know how you all coping.

Congratulations!  I totally understand your fears, my son was born sleeping at 33 weeks, so there is certainly no point at which I will feel safe.  As for how I'm coping, one day at a time... it's a big leap of faith, but everyone here will support you!

Welcome and congratulations. I'm sorry for your loss, I too had a later loss, my son's heart stopped at 35w5d. I know what you mean about not having a "safe" point any more, it is very difficult. I'm still pretty early so I'm not sure how I'll feel later on but for now I'm just trying to remind myself that the only thing I can do is take care of myself, everything else is out of my control. That seems to help me acknowledging that I am not in control so there isn't much sense in worrying about what I can't change. I hope this pregnancy is an easy one for you and you get another healthy lo out of it.

Congrats and welcome. I'm so sorry about your loss. In my case I was a total basket case until week 9 (that was our loss milestone). I know that complications can happen at any time but I did feel better after week 9 and I feel even better now that I'm in week 13. The worry is still there, but it seems to be decreasing some as I progress. And it seems like time is passing more quickly then it did during the first 9 weeks.

We have all been in your shoes so we are here for you if you need support or need to vent or even have a good laugh!

Wishing you an uneventful 9 months!

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

    Congrats and welcome!!

Unfortunately, those fears come with being PGAL. Both of my losses were first tri losses, and I can't say I felt "safe" once I reached second tri even though so many of the naive ones think second tri is the "safe zone." I was extremely scared in the beginning but have to say that I have gained more and more confidence and got more and more excited after each successful appointment and milestone passed. I don't think I'll ever be able to say with 100% confidence that I am having a baby in December, but I feel much more excited and much less nervous than I did in the very beginning. You'll get there. Just relax and take it one day at a time. Smile

Sorry for your loss. Congrats on your BFP!!!!

My son passed away the day after he was born (@ 39 weeks) so I totally get the feeling like no time is comfortable or relaxed. I think my nerves will get worse as a get closer the to due date because of my experience....
