6am is a completely typical wake up time. Ferber says you basically take their normal wake up time and if they are crying an hour before then you wake them for the day. If they are still asleep at their wake up time you wake them for the day. This is only while you are training. Most babies sleep 9.5-11 hours at night. My son gets 9 hrs of asleep time. He goes down at 7 and wakes at 5:30. He has 6 ish night wakings. When we did Ferber he was down to two Wakings and still woke at 5:30am. Is he going to bed very late?
Check ins are 1-2 minutes in length and you can softly reassure with words, pat their back or belly, give a paci etc. Possibly you need to Ferber the three night Wakings since his morning wake up will likely be 6am in the long run.
He goes to bed around 7 - 7:30. And wakes up around 10, 2 and 5 or 6 (sometimes 5 and 6 though) on good nights. Bad nights, add an extra 1-3 wakenings in there. I know 6 am is an okay wake up time in general, but it is too early for C. The earlier he wakes up, the shorter the amount of time is before he needs a nap. If he got up at 6 am, he'd probably be having his first nap at 7:30.
The First nap should be 1.5-2 hours after they wake up. I'd work on ferbe ring the middle of the night wake ups. Maybe read the book, it has great information in it.
I've already Ferbered and my son puts himself back to sleep for almost all wakings except his one night feeding. Well the night feeding got later and later until it was 4:30ish which is only 1.5 hrs from his natural wake up time. Well he stopped being able to fall back asleep after that feeding. The sun was already starting to come up. So I ended up rocking him back to sleep to help preserve his 6 am wake up time. He was tired. And it was messing up his feeding because he wouldn't be hungry for his first feeding of the day.
So I tried just rocking him to sleep without offering food and it worked immediately. I was surprised. He went back to sleep until 6:00. He woke up out of habit for two more days but was able to put himself back down. Now it's been a few days of no wake up, just sleeping till 5:45-6ish. And his eating is back on track.

Really 1.5-2 hours after wake up?? H doesn't take her first nap for at least 2-2.5 hours after she gets up for the day. her second nap is usually about 3.5 hours after she gets up from the first nap, and bedtime is 4 hours later.

1.5 is pushing it but if I wait longer than two hours he will not nap at all. I do the 2,3,4 schedule.
