I may have the most fussy/ High maintenance babies

Holy moly.  I am so blessed and thankful for her and love her more than life itself.  But dang she is difficult.  Rarely does she sit/lay/play in one spot for more than 10 min without fussing or screaming.  She hates napping, and to top it all off....I'm positive she is the only  baby her age still nursing every one to two hours. We can't go anywhere cause not only does she hate being in the car, but she screams thru any meal or anywhere.  The plus side is she's a pretty good night sleeper.  But momma is exhausted and at my wits end.  Anyone else have a baby like mine?

  • DS still nurses often. It is just now increasing to every 2-3 hrs. I used to wonder if I wasn't producing enough since he was always wanting to eat, but he has doubled his weight so no issues there. The overall fussiness has started to decrease in the past couple of weeks (he'll actually play on his activity mat for up to 15 min!) He still screams in the car after about 10 min (used to be immediate). I am still worried about that one since we have to drive 16 hrs in August. He is still a horrible sleeper at night...last night he was up every 2 hrs.

  • I also have a very "needy" baby...he requires a ton of stimulation, and is always active and moving around, doesn't really ever chill or just like to be held.  He gets really frustrated with things often- it's as if he feels trapped in his body, like he thinks older than his body actually is, if that makes any sense.  His nursing is getting better, he can go 2 hours now, but sometimes the only thing that will soothe him is the boob.  It honestly has gotten better.  Naps are still a battle EVERY day, but he is getting better and better at sleeping.  Hang in there- you're doing such a great job!  It definitely takes patience!
  • DS ate every 1-2 hours around the clock until 8 months old. He then increased to 2-3 hours around the clock until 14 months. He does not STTN consistently at age 2. DS hated the car and screamed bloody murder every time we got into the car. He stopped at 3 months after a 3 hour trip by myself with him screaming down and back the 90% of the 6 hours. I wore him a lot.

I feel this way with Evan too! He is trying so hard to move around and his body just won't "cooperate." He gets so frustrated  during tummy time and actually yelled at his arm when it kept him from rolling over.

This is totally Kirkley!  I wonder what causes that behavior? I am do glad to know I'm not alone!!

My LO is the same way.  She is still eating every 2 hours- the only time it's 3 is if she takes a long nap.  If she isn't sleeping or eating she is always on the verge of crying.  I feel like I can't take her anywhere bc I know she will have a crying fit at some point while we are out.  On top of that she has the worst reflux and awful gas.  I read posts about people taking their kids all over and doin fun things and I keep thinking we could never do that with DD.

  • L is a real handful too...she has colic, reflux and bad gas. She cries A LOT. I have to say her colic has gotten a bit better over the past couple weeks. She is an unpredictable napper but it is always a struggle to get her down. I have to pull out all tricks. She does sleep well at night though. She is generally a fussy baby and gets over stimulated very easy. When she's happy I want to play and out her on the mat but then she freaks out. We have only taken her a few places outside of families house but she surprised us by being good. But again, got over stimulated so later in the day it was bad. I am chained to my couch. She only naps on me.

  • Cranky baby for me too!!  DD was a breeze.  She would fall asleep on her own, ate every 3 hours (that was the shortest amount of time, usually longer), loved her swing, bouncy seat, etc, and on and on... GREAT baby!  DS, ugh, not so much.  He eats every 2 hours at the max, cries EVERY time we sit down to eat dinner, only naps being held, wakes up at night all the time.  Its good to know I'm not alone.  He drives me absolutely crazy sometimes, I do love him, but you know!!

I'm so happy this thread was created....not that we are having these difficulties, but to know that I'm not alone.

  • God, I'm glad it's not just me. And she used to sleep really well at night, but now that is turning into a fight. It makes me constantly question myself.

  • If it makes y'all feel any better, I read somewhere (can't remember the source, sorry) that research shows gifted children tended to be babies who got bored really easy and therefore were fussier during awake hours and constantly needed their stimulation changed up. Think of that and it may help you get through the next few hours :)

I read that too...I keep trying to make myself remember and believe it! Lol.  I am do glad to know I'm not alone.  Thanks ladies.  I thought I was, cause like y'all...reading about everyone taking their LOs placesade me feel that way.  DHs 30th is this weekend.  He doesn't even want to attempt to do anything :( and his parents (the only ones I trust with DD right now) are both sick! :/
