Recs for getting rid of unwanted baby items - especially clothing

We just found out baby #2 is a boy, so that leaves me with tons of girl items and especially clothing to get rid of. I'm giving some of it to someone I know who is having a girl, but would also like to sell some of it. Do you recommend consignment sales, consignment stores, craigslist or ebay??? I have done a church consignment sale once and felt it was a lot of work with little return. It was a hassle to make the drop off and pick up times too since I work full time. Thoughts/Experiences???

  • I sold a bunch of baby items on craigslist and it was a piece of cake! :) No clothes though...

  • I've sold my big baby items (travel system, swing, etc) on CraigsList and put small things and clothing (including maternity) in local consignment sales. I feel that I do much better (even though I do agree it is a lot of work) than doing a yard sale or such. I also shop the consignment sale, so as long as I get back what I spend, and usually more, I feel good.

  • I sold all of the bigger baby items on Craigslist. The best clothing I took to consignments stores, and the rest of it I passed along to friends.

Donate them to a womens shelter.  they are desperately needed.

    Yes

IME - unless you've got alot of super nice clothes - Janie & Jack, etc. - consignment is more trouble than its worth.  Gear, etc. is probably worth the effort.

  • For clothes, we just donate to Purple Heart.  You can write it off on your tax returns (there's a chart that lets you estimate the worth depending on the item).

  • Definitely donate them and write them off. It's less of a hassle.

  • We have buy, sell, swap groups on FB for my area and I have sold a ton of stuff already and only been a member a week. It's worth looking into.
