I love the fourth. But not on a Wednesday. I'm so exhausted today! I thought Wednesday off would be a good rest during the week. But it wasn't! I am that much closer to the weekend though!
Bare belly maternity pictures do not bother me one bit. If done correctly, I think they are beautiful. I also don't get the hype about showing your belly at the beach/pool.
My Thursday confession: I wore a two piece to the pool last Sunday and only covered my belly when I was in the full sun. I was terrified at first, but my friends encouraged me, and I didn't receive any dirty looks from strangers.
Well, I really don't want to get political and get flamed but.... I didn't vote for this president. I really didn't like either parties but I was rooting for the lesser of the two evils. That being said,In MY possible UO I'm not at all happy about the Obama care that just passed. ALSO, Look at some of the generation these days. Am I seeing a decrease in mental capabilities of the new generations due to smut and schools or am I just getting old?
edit: BTW: Totally meant to quote Tonir but I'm half asleep, forgive me haha

Good for you I don't mind bare belly mommas in bikinis, but I'm not a fan of most of the bare belly maternity pics. They're just NMS. I think some of them look more boudoir than maternity, which I find a little weird.

When I was taking pictures for yesterdays HDBD I took one that was covered belly and a few bare belly for family on FB. When my mom asked me how come I had to take separate pictures I explained "I don't see many women bare belly theirs on here." She thought it was weird because it's a beautiful natural thing,so I braved it and posted a covered and a bare belly picture. Damn, I thought it was just me. Wow, I can't listen to most of them talk. And, they don't think they need their parents for anything except for a roof over their head, food on the table (lunch, breakfast, dinner, snacks), drinks in the fridge, money for recreational activities, a PHONE, driver's ed money, gas money, etc....please add...
SO....i guess my UO is....why in the hell does EVERYONE need a phone? A ten year old? We were watching about ten boys play a game of pick up ball the other day. The catcher....had his phone out like three times. DUDE....go play already and get off the phone.

My UO: I don't think "kids today are so bad!!!1!"
Honestly, there were spoiled brats and bad eggs when we were growing up, and when our parents were growing up too. I don't know why every generation thinks that their generation was so polite/smart/wonderful. There are good kids in this generation and there will be good kids in future generation.
You mention getting custody of your niece. ::whispers:: kids from normal happy households with engaged parents don't have their aunt/uncle get custody. I'd be surprised if your niece didn't come with some interesting emotional baggage.
Using the logic presented of early cell phone= delinquent behavior, I must be a better member of society because I didn't get my first cell phone until I was a sr in college and bought it myself. Cell phones don't make bad kids. Piss poor parenting and funky emotional wiring make "bad" kids.
I could give a rat's ass about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes divorce. Why is everyone so obsessed? It's all over the Internet and television. You would think it was breaking news with the way they have treated this.
Mine is that I don't like the Fourth of July at all. I like America just fine but I'm not into the holiday.
AMEN. I can't stand the summer, the heat, and I don't like fireworks.
I'm in this camp, too. H can't believe I don't want to spend my day out in the heat and then fighting people to get a parking space for the one fireworks show my town does every year. No thank you.
I think people who are all "ZOMG OBAMA CARE IS GOING TO RUIN MY LYFE!!!1!!!" are tragically misinformed. Do you currently have standard, run-of-the-mill insurance? If the answer is yes (and if you have insurance, overwhelmingly this is the case. Yes, not so much for "cadillac plans" but I honestly am still unclear on what that truly is), then nothing about "Obama care" is going to change your life. If your insurance premiums go up, change, etc - that is the doing of the insurance companies, not President Obama. The basic concept of supply & demand should bring insurance costs down. Getting people preventative care, and getting people on insurance, should bring overall costs down. If costs go up, it isn't because there are more people in the insurance pools. It's because insurance companies are run by jackashes who do whatever the fcuk they want and charge whatever they want. If you don't have insurance
Plus, if we want to get technical, let's call it what it is, mmkay? Romney-Care-taken-by-the-Democrats-and-called-Obama Care. Honestly.
LOL!!
This is why I love Anita. This is also why I'm going to cry at the next election, no matter who wins.
I don't get how Emma Stone is the it girl in Hollywood, I don't think she is pretty at all.
Agreed. I mean, she's cute, but I don't get the hype over her.
Plus, I think Blake Lively pretty much PWNED Emma Stone's "It Girl" status by showing up to the Savages premiere looking like she did. I don't even like Blake Lively, but the girl looked flawless.

Anita, I agree that "Obamacare" won't actually affect many people.
However, you're wrong on the supply and demand part. People are now required to have insurance, so insurance companies can do whatever they want cost-wise. Higher (forced) demand will lead to higher rates.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but a tenant of obanacare is that insurance companies can't exceed certain profit margins.
I think people who are all "ZOMG I'm afraid of where this country is going!!11!!" are naive, short-sighted, and overreactive. I roll my eyes and assume they're Rush Limbaugh fans.
I don't agree, I think North America as a whole is going in the shitter. Not that it's not fixable, but it's certainly not a peachy situation right now.
On the other hand, people continue to live beyond their means. They spend more than they make, have mortgages and payments they can't afford, and then they cry when they lose their jobs. I'm kinda a heartless biotch when it comes to personal debt. I have a mortgage, but I drive a used car that I paid $1,000 for. I don't spend what I don't have. I have one credit card and absolutely NO in store credit cards. We have savings in the bank... it's not rocket science. People need to look out for themselves and not depend on their government to bail them out of a tough situation.
Sorry, I went on a bit of a tangent there haha

I think people who ask medical questions on the bump are morons. I've seen lots of posts that are "What are the pros and cons of x medical procedure?". Seriously?! Get a flipping book or find a website with actual, research based information--don't just listen to what a bunch if strangers on the Internet think!
I'm all for asking for people's experiences with procedures and such, but when people ask for information and get a bunch of anecdotal evidence (and often misinformation) then seem satisfied to make a decision based on responses, I get stabby.
Honestly, there were spoiled brats and bad eggs when we were growing up, and when our parents were growing up too. I don't know why every generation thinks that their generation was so polite/smart/wonderful. There are good kids in this generation and there will be good kids in future generation.
When I get over my knee-jerk reaction to little brats, I tend to agree with this. I think this happens with every generation--we look at the younger ones as being less smart/respectful/interesting/etc than we were.
When we were growing up, it was "video games are going to make us all serial killers". There's ALWAYS some new technology or change in society to make people worry about the upcoming generation.
That said, I am already dreading the fights with my future 4th grader over having a cell phone. That just seems crazy to me!
and the other discussion... I think America is already in the shiitter (ETA: economically speaking at least), to be honest. But I'm not sure the government (or the new generation or whatever) is entirely to blame. It's the whole culture of "I deserve it, because I want it. And I want/need/deserve it NOW, even if I can't afford it." I'm not sure where that whole mentality came from, but it's clearly rampant. (please see: housing bubble burst, people thinking they shouldn't have to pay back student loans because they didn't get the job the wanted, etc.)
Yes. Exactly. Thank you.

I agree with you that some people do live beyond their means, but whether you do or not, if you lose your job today you will be worried. If both you and your husband lost your jobs, will your expenses be covered for 6 mths to a year? I don't think it's fair to say that people should not seek government assistance. Are there lazy people who just sit on their arse and milk the gov't? Yes! But you have people out there who were good at living within their means but got hit with hard times. In cases like these, I'm glad there is gov't assistance, and instead of whigging out and/or getting to the point of committing suicide, they should make use of this.

I am all for personal responsibility but I'm not a fan of the broad generalization that people cling to. The facts are delinquent mortgages are the lowest than they have been in 4 years. Only 7% of mortgages are delinquent and only 4% are in foreclosure. A big reason for the foreclosure rate is because the real estate market crashed and people could not sell their house when they lost their job like you could 10 years ago. Don't be afraid where this country is going, be happy we are starting to see an upswing.
I don't get how Emma Stone is the it girl in Hollywood, I don't think she is pretty at all.

The over leveraging problem is hardly a recent phenomenon.
Stock market crash of 1929? One of the major contributing factors was that people got into the market who had no business being there (like people buying houses/student loans they couldn't afford), stock brokers were talking these people into buying crappy investments (much like mortgage brokers did recently), and people were buying securities on 95% margin loans (nowadays Reg T requires a "down payment" of 50% on most marginable securities). Sound familiar? Just replace "securities" with "cell phones/houses/cars" and we are just repeating history.
Recessions/depressiOns are one of the 4 parts of the economic stages. And people like to say "zomg this is the worse evah, it's never been this bad!" during each One.

I can agree with this. Government assistance is there as a TEMPORARY relief in times of need. But, is that really the norm? I know plenty of people who are living beyond their means even with full time jobs. Yes, you just got a new job. No, that doesn't' mean you should go buy a brand new car when you have student loans and CCs to pay off first.
You're right, it 'should' just be temporary, but the system gets abused, and in the end the good suffers for the bad. As you mentioned earlier, too many people have a sense of entitlement and too much of this WANT, WANT, WANT! I think a lot of people today are just greedy! Forget obligations like the aforementioned student loans and credit cards, I want that new BMW, or those $200 shoes, or the 5,000 sq. ft home. It's ridiculous! But despite the few bad apples out there, I'm glad that assistance is in place for those who really need it to get back on their feet.

I get really annoyed at the "should I call my OB?" posts-- someone is always going to say that of course you should call, that's what they're there for, etc. The vast majority of us are not OBs, CNMs, or the like, so we can't really tell you accurately whether a call is warranted. Just call and stop with the AWing.
However, once you have called and if there's actually an issue, please feel free to share your experience.
I don't think I have an UO today. I think you all have it covered! BTW I hope I don't give in and give my kid a phone, or a DS/other handheld video game. We had Atari but still would rather go outside and play than be inside stuck to the video game. I didn't have a cell phone until I was 24 and even then my SO made fun of me and asked me if I was now a drug dealer. My nieces and nephews all have phones and I feel that's between them and their folks. Maybe one day I will understand the need for it.

I don't think people shouldn't seek government assistance. I lost my job in November. We're on one income. The government provided me with Employee Insurance after I lost my job, and I also had severance - so I certainly don't think people should struggle. Job loss is hard and it's worrisome.I guess what I meant by saying that people shouldn't depend on their government is that your unemployment or EI or whatever benefits you receive are not going to be a solution to your overspending. You cannot live a lifestyle you can't afford - whether you have a great job or no job. I try to separate needs from wants. Do I always succeed? No. But I can sleep at night, even knowing that we live on a limited budget.
PS - The person I was thinking of when I wrote that is a friend of mine. She and her husband both lost their jobs and quickly found new ones, but took pay cuts. They continued to live the same lifestyle, however, and now they're in so much debt they pay $900 just in interest per month. I would be having a heart attack, and yet they seem to just roll with the punches! I don't get it?

I love the fourth. But not on a Wednesday. I'm so exhausted today! I thought Wednesday off would be a good rest during the week. But it wasn't! I am that much closer to the weekend though!
That is VERY unpopular I would think. I love the holiday. Picnic food, all the patriotism, swimming, etc.
I could see where mosquitoes, bugs, and the heat could ruin the holiday!
I'm afraid for our country though.I think it's twirling down the drain..... but I still like to scream " 'MERICA! " In my southern tone....
How so? I'm not saying I agreed or disagree, just curious
I think this is unpopular.
Bare belly maternity pictures do not bother me one bit. If done correctly, I think they are beautiful. I also don't get the hype about showing your belly at the beach/pool.

When I finally figured out whose phone it was, it was the kid's DAD calling. This was so weird to me. It's noon. You know your kid is at school. If the message is urgent, then call the school.

I Thought I didn't earlier as well,my post was more because I'm just in awe at the growing numbers....

Absolutly this...or their divorces and how they split up their millions...
My UO, I hated 50 Shades, there was no storyline, and even the dirty parts did nothing for me.

I'm in this camp, too. H can't believe I don't want to spend my day out in the heat and then fighting people to get a parking space for the one fireworks show my town does every year. No thank you.
LOL!!
This is why I love Anita. This is also why I'm going to cry at the next election, no matter who wins.

Agreed. I mean, she's cute, but I don't get the hype over her.
Plus, I think Blake Lively pretty much PWNED Emma Stone's "It Girl" status by showing up to the Savages premiere looking like she did. I don't even like Blake Lively, but the girl looked flawless.

My UO is Obama sucks ass!!! and so does Romey.... but at the end of the day our country is still better off then some others!
Yes. Exactly.

I do what I can.
