Cloth Diapering

Sposies while traveling...

Please don't flame me :(

We are limited on luggage space  for our vacation tomorrow and decided to use spouses. We will buy a small pack of sposies and then my mom is buying some to have at her house. Is there a "favorite" brand you prefer? Something sold at Target preferably.

TIA!!

  • I really like the Target brand and Luvs even though people think Luvs smell bad. I've had a package of Huggies smell worse!

No Flames from me...we do the same thing.  I do use a Thirsties cover over a sposie if we are flying.

This is an excellent pointer.  I just used sposies for the past 3 weeks while traveling and I hated every day of it b/c of the leaks and blowouts.  Couldn't wait to get back to cloth. It didn't occur to me to use a thirsties cover--this would have saved me lots of scrubbing and fret!  Next time I'll do that.

  • I use sposies when I travel more than a night too. I've used like 3 since birth at home, so I don't feel guilty at all when I do it away from home. That and it's so much extra stuff to drag, I'm scared I'll wreck my dipes in another machine, etc. The only place I take them is my mom's.

I like the UpandUp generic from Target. Cheap and get the job done.

  • No flames from me as that is what we do. I will say, though, you may want to use A&D as a barrier. We went up north and I was shocked how quickly DD's butt turned red from the disposables. I couldn't wait to get home to my cloth!

  • Just got back from a trip, and I used Huggies Baby Dry.  I normally use Parent's Choice if I have to use a sposie, but had so many leaks I didn't want to take them.  I splurged on the Huggies and only had one leak!  Not smelly either, despite the complaints I read.

  • No flames from me either because I do the same thing.  I use Pampers Sensitive.  The sposie shouldn't be leaking like that to where you need a cover.  You may be using the wrong size if it's leaking like that.
  • I strongly recommend a disposable insert over traditional sposies. They have fewer chemicals, don't stink and are one size. That way you don't waste sposies in between trips because LO grew out of the size you last purchased. We used Flips for our recent transition to an overseas post amd they worked great. Bonus points for the covers as they are the easiest to clean and fastest to dry while traveling.
