Life sucks and so does IF.

Hi all. Well, I wasn't ready for this news, but life certainly doesn't hold back just because you're not in the mood, right?

My younger brother got married on May 5th. I found out that I was pregnant two days before, and the following week it was pronounced a c/p.

Flash forward to last night and we were told that my brother and his wife are now pregnant. 5 weeks along. After being married for 2 months.

*sigh* I can honestly say that in the past two weeks I felt I had finally healed from that traumatic first IVF fail, and now this. I feel sick to my stomach. And I also feel like a horrible sister. Obviously I've been nothing but happy and supportive to their faces, but behind close doors I just fall apart.

Aside from my pit party, 5 weeks is very early to be spreading the news isn't it? I mean, it would be one thing if they were just telling parents or immediate family, but they are making announcements today! Maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to fault them.

I have to head out now, I'm have to make a 3 hour car ride with my now pregnant SIL to a bachelorette party. Wish me luck!

I'm sorry you're dealing with this.  I haven't been in your situation, but if my sister got pregnant right now, I'm sure I'd have all the same feelings you are having.  And yes, I do think 5 wks is too early.  I made that mistake my first pregnancy and it sucked when I ended up having a missed m/c at 13 weeks.  I will never make that mistake again.

Hopefully the bachelorette party will help take your mind off things, even if only for a few hours. And if not, perhaps alcohol will help (it does for me).  Good luck today!

Oh Penny! I'm so sorry! Believe me, I know how much that can rip your heart out. Please don't be hard on yourself for what you're feeling right now; it's totally normal. Good luck today! I agree with you also; it's awful early to be announcing.....ignorance can be bliss sometimes. ((big hugs))

I'm sorry. That's so frustrating. I totally understand. And yes, I think it is early to be announcing anything, although I told my immediate family when I first got pregnant just because I wanted the support if anything happened.

Sooo sorry! I totally get you! I'm sick of the "surprise" BFPs after just getting off the pill or just having an IUD removed, etc. I know you're happy for your brother nd SIL but you can't help but be a little resentful on the inside! Hope the bachelorette party helps...and I agree with the PP...nothing like alcohol to help ease the hurt!

I'm so sorry, I know how you feel.  I was just at the hospital last night, holding my brand new nephew in my arms (my younger brother's first, first grandchild for my parents).  It was bittersweet to say the least.  My mom would text me pics of her holding the baby with the biggest smile, and it made me feel like a failure inside knowing I should have been the first to give her a grandbaby.  Stay strong, and take it day by day, that's all we can do.

Hugs. Coming from someone with 2 losses both at 10 weeks I think 5 is very early. This happened to me, After our IVF 2 fail I found out my SIL was pregnant and they also told everyone like at 4 weeks. I just found out about our BFN. They also had been married 2 months and got pregnant the first month. Our babies would have been born the same week. Also my loss from IVF 1 should have been 1 that week as well.

It just sucks so much. Lots of hugs.

so sorry about the c/p...... that sucks... and you're right, IF sucks too... I've had a miserable couple days as well, so I get it. And also, I agree that it seems lately that everyone who gets pregnant tells everyone like immedietely these days... If I ever get pg, I'm waiting until 3 months. Like people used to do. Hope the rest of your week gets better... hugs!

I'm so sorry, and I totally understand!  My brother and SIL just welcomed their first child two weeks ago and it's ALL been hard for me.  The pregnancy, the showers, and the birth.  I get it, and it doesn't make you a bad sister.  It makes you human!
