Baby K'tan - good option?

I have a Moby from when DD was born....used it a few times at home and am fairly confident I can get it tight enough. DS is arriving in October and planning to wear him more when we are out and about. Would a Bbay K'tan be a good option - seems like it would be easier to put on and less bulky to wear (I'm 5'2"). I know it's less adjustable because you choose a size, so I'm wondering if that will mean that it would be a bit harder to fit baby right. Any experience? TIA!

Re: Baby K'tan - good option?

  • I made a K'tan myself.  I made it about a month ago and it still fits DD, but I am wondering how long that will last.  That's why I didn't want to pay for a "real" one.  I have a Moby too.

  • I love my K'tan, DH got his own, and I've given four as gifts and they're all in love with it.

I'm 5'4" and was 150 prebaby and wore a medium.  DH ordered a large, and that actually worked better as Nat got bigger.  I never got the hang of a wrap, and I didn't feel secure with a sling, so when a friend recommended the K'tan, I went for it, and I'm so glad I did.

Just a hint, a breeze doesn't have as much give as a regular.  So if you're between sizes and want to order smaller, go with the regular and it'll stretch out.

  • Thanks! I'm 5'2" and 150 prebaby....so it seems like I should go with a medium to start. I'm thinking I will switch to using an Ergo or Beco once baby gets bigger. I guess I'm seeing myself using the Moby or K'tan while he is little, maybe a month or three. And sounds like I should go with the regular fabric style. Thanks again!

  • LOVE my k'tan. does the same stuff as the moby without the ridiculous amount of fabric and wrapping. totally worth it imo. a snug fit is importnant, so follow their sizing guide and their tips. i was between the s and xs, so they said to size down and i got an xs. it fits great. a bit snug the first time you put it on, but stretches when you use it, so snug is good.
  • Love my K'tan- so much so that I haven't even yet tried the Moby I received as a gift.. DD is 3 months.
