Unfortunatly I have been feeling some extrem cramping in the last 3 days in my lower belly area so I called my ob and they had me come right in. I had a vaginal altrasound and it confirmed my cervix has began to open so they decided to put me on complete bed rest. Has any one of you been through this I'm very nervouse and just want to make sure I'm doing everything I possibly can any advice is appericated
Re: Put on bed rest at 18 weeks
I believe there is a bed rest check in on the high risk board.
If you don't mind to share, could you maybe give more details about what your symptoms were and how they determined your cervix was opening? I know you are in a tough spot right now, so just ignore me if that's uncomfortable.
As far as things to do on bed rest, I think I once saw an article with a list of things to do in bed - you could google it. If it were me, I'd probably take up knitting or cross stitching or something so I could make things for my baby while I was in bed. Plus you can do a lot of shopping on line so you can actually get a lot done while on bed rest. Not sure if that's what you're looking for as far as advice, but I hope it helps!
First Child born

Chemical Pregnancy

Second after severe bleeding for 18 weeks due to subchorionic hematoma
Expecting Number 3 due 10/31/2020
You could also do some research of your own and talk to your doctor about possibly getting a cervical cerclage--it's basically a little stitch that they put in your cervix to keep it closed. Some doctors are in favor of them, some are not, it just depends on what their experience has been. The evidence about whether they help is inconclusive.
Good luck and I'm sending thoughts and prayers your way!
::pssst- Op- its ultrasound::
I have no experience with this, but I hope you hear good news when you go back. Good luck.

I would ask about being referred to a peri. Like, right this second.
Whenever possible, rest with your legs elevated higher than your hips. This will help discourage gravity from putting more pressure on your cervix and allowing it to dilate any further.

This Momma's Journey
~Today I am pregnant and I love my baby~
I was put on bed rest at about 30 weeks with my first pregnancy...3 day of which were in the hospital with strict bed rest.
Just make sure you're taking it VERY easy. Let your significant other or family members take care of you and pamper you. Take quick showers....I'm talking 5-10 mins max. If you have to dry your hair/do make up/ do anything, sit down to do it. Your butt should be planted on the couch or laying in bed.
I recommend going on the high risk pregnancy boards and talking to other mommies on bed rest. But.....be forewarned, be careful with how you word things. Some are very sensitive and consider what you're probably on to be light bed rest...there are women in there who are on hospitalized bed rest. Some not allowed to get get up to use the restroom...it's bed pans only, and sponge baths as well. You don't want to be there, so take it easy, very easy. Take care of yourself and your little one.
Make a pregnancy ticker
I was on bed rest for 2 weeks earlier in my pregnancy. I was only allowed to get up to use the bathroom, to get food when no one else was home, & for a very short shower every couple of days. I spent my time watching movies & tv shows on NetFlix, texting & talking on the phone with friends, playing wii games that don't require movement (like Super Mario Bros), surfing the Internet & Facebook on my IPad, playing sudoku, reading books & magazines... I found the girls on the high risk board super helpful. I loved the daily bed rest check in.
One warning: Bed rest will make you super constipated. Things stop moving when you stop moving. Drink lots of fluids and start eating lots of high fiber foods right away. Eat an Activia every day, too. If you need something to make you go, my OB recommended cascada sagrada. It's all natural. I think it's actually tree bark. You can get it at a health food store.
Good luck! I hope everything turns out ok.
I started to knit, but got too annoyed w/ it to do for long lol. lots of reading, crossword puzzles, and naps...and of course if you have a laptop (i did not, still don't) that helps bc you can watch movies and surf.
Good luck!
