I really wanted to buy a Beco Gemini, but can get a Beco Butterfly 2 for a good price. Anyone know about these carriers and have a preference or any input for me? Thanks

I have a Gemini and love it. The reasons I picked it over the Butterfly were the ability to carry LO facing out and be able to breastfeed in it (the Butterfly has fabric between you and baby), but I've never used either of those things! From what I remember, the pro for the Butterfly was that the extra fabric between you and LO made it easier to get them on your back by yourself. We've just started doing a back carry and I'm not comfortable by myself yet, but I'm sure I'll get there. I've never tried a Butterfly, so I can't compare the comfort of one to the other, maybe someone else can. All that to say, if the comfort is the same, and you can get the Butterfly cheaper, I'd do that.
The Geminis is really hot, the material is synthetic and thick. It's terrible for the summer. The Butterfly 2 is thinner and the panel is larger, so better for bigger babes. You can't face them out, but really you shouldn't be doing that anyway!
Is there a place you can go to try both and see which you like better? You may not like either! Look at the Tula, it's one of the best ssc on the market!

I picked the Gemini for the same reasons. I don't have experience with the Butterfly, but I'll say that I have both forward-carried and breastfed DS in the Gemini. I probably won't forward-carry a lot, but I'm glad to have the option, and bf-ing in it is great. I even bf-ed him will hiking recently! I haven't tried a back-carry yet so I don't know how hard it is to get him on.
