Dumb question from a STM.

I don't remember what happened at my first few appointments with DS, and with this pregnancy, so much has gone wrong so far that none of my appointments have been 'normal'.  I switched Ob's last week and have the first real appointment with the new Ob tomorrow, but I can't remember anything but the last few appointments with DS.  And, um, it would be kind of embarassing if I depants myself and all she wants to do is take my temperature.  Lol.

Sooooo, what did your 14ish week (or first appointments) look like?  Again, I'm WAY off schedule due to all the scary business that happened in first tri.

It will vary by practices I'm assuming. 

For me it went like this:

First OB (8w) they did an internal, pap, and bloodwork along with BP & weight.

Second appt (12w) it was just weight, blood pressure, any questions, try for baby's heartbeat with the doppler.

Just yesterday at my 16w, it was a repeat of the 12w appt.

Hmm, I haven't had an internal, pap, or anything else done yet.  I wonder if they will do that tomorrow.  I should probably bring up that I haven't had all that done.  Thanks!

Thankfully my DR / Nurse always tells me what to remove (just bottoms / top and bottom) and that there is a sheet available.  It helps

My 14 week appt included peeing in a cup, hearing hb on doppler, going over questions for the next few weeks and scheduling my next appt.  It seriously lasted under 7 minutes.

They will tell you if you need to depants.

I had my first appointment w/ a transvag ultrasound at 6w.

Second appointment at 11w, had pap done (I was due anyway).

Third appointment at 12w for NT, transabdominal.

Fourth appointment at 14w, just doppler.

Fifth appointment will be at 18w, just doppler.

I see a nurse first for my blood pressure, urine sample, weight check, and whatnot. Then I go to a smaller room to see my OB. The nurse always tells me if I need "bottoms off" or not, but I've only needed that 1st appointment, and all 3rd tri appointments (at least, I think all 3rd tri, it's been a while)

if you're having a normal pregnancy, they'll either 1. do your first u/s or 2. just take your bp, weight, pee in a cup, and check the baby's heartbeat. just a normal visit. besides, they tell you when you need to depants yourself anyway.

A typical 14 week appointment for me would be PIAC (to check for protein), blood pressure, weight, and listen for the HB with the doppler.

Yours may include something more because this is your first appt. with this doctor. 

Don't worry about the de-pantsing.  The nurse will let you know what to do each step along the way, and will give you a gown/cover up if you need to.

Thanks ladies!  I had the urine test, blood test, doppler, and pap, do I had to depants. Apparently the Ob made up for lost time with everything today.
