Re: I am HUGE

  • I'm eating clean/healthy foods and exercising 5x per week. No special tricks here - same principles as if you weren't pregnant.

  • Are you eating healthy?  You only need to consume an extra 300 calories a day.

And are you exercising. These too things should be the only things you need to do to keep the weight gain going at a slow healthy pace.

  • I've actually lost weight and I. The mirror I don't think I look bad, but I also saw a picture of myself the other day and I was like whoa! Haha. Your body changing is just part of pregnancy. Eat healthy. Don't think you're "eating for two", as PP said you only need 300 extra calories which really isn't much. Also stay active!

  • Maybe a good portion of it is water if you look really bloated. Have you done anything to try to get rid of the excess water weight? Or cut down on your salt intake? Are you heavy to begin with? I am and with my first LO I only gained about 15 total. I would just ask your doctor what they think and what you could do about the bloated look.
  • I've focused on portion sizes and sticking to many small meals in a day instead of large meals. I feel less hungry and I actually enjoy the "healthy" foods better then the junk foods because they make me feel more alert.. plus baby girl is more active after "healthy" foods.

I try and do prenatal yoga three times a week and walk 30 minutes everyday to help maintain.

Initially I gained 19 pounds and wasn't doing the above. Once I started the above even with the exercise intermittent I only gained an additional 2 pounds between visits.

Oh and up your water intake and real juice intake... take out all other drinks and that will help, just like prepregnancy. Oh and avoid salty foods!

    Good Luck!!

  • I am going through similar issues; on my last appointment I gained 7 lbs in a month putting me around the 13lb mark.

I do the math to track my growth ie. if I gain 7 lbs every month for the rest of my pregnancy that means I would gain a total of like 60 lbs.

I was underweight when I concieved DS so the 70lbs I gained with that pregnancy was not horrible, but a good portion of that weight did not come off, so holding another 30lbs post pregnancy is not an option.

I try to have good day bad day.  .

Last friday I started my day with a bacon egg, and cheese croissant, had nachos for lunch, and then came home from work and literally ate 2 donuts while I drank half & half from the container. that would definitelybe a bad day. So the next week I made sure to buy a box of cereal, and lowfat milk, and brought fruit for my mid morning snack.

Binge in moderation, walk and swim, and you will be just fine.

  • You don't know how happy I am to hear that someone else is in the same boat! I'm not happy that we've gained so much, but I was beginning to feel like NO ONE has experienced this. I'm 17 weeks and have gained nearly 20 lbs so far. I'm only 5'0" and started at 130 lbs. I was a few pounds overweight, but nothing horrible.

I've been a Weight Watchers member for years, and I was a leader for about a year. So clearly I know how to eat properly. I think I just got so gung-ho in the first trimester, because I was eating things that I hadn't let myself eat in years!

My strategy right now is to try to avoid tons of carbs and sugar. I also signed up for a 5K (July 4) so I'll be getting in some good walking that day.

  • I'm the same way my doctor said to cut out carbs as much as possible as our bodies tend to store them as fat supplies for after pregnancy
  • And don't stress too much I've talked to plenty of woman that gained  excessive weight in pregnancy that all had happy healthy babies it's just more work for us to loss the weight afterwards. Plus it can be difficult to tell how your weight is distributed you could just have alot of fluid :)
  • I totally relate. I am only 14w 5d pregnant and I have already gained 10 pounds. I am finding that I am much hungrier than I was pre pregnancy and I am exercising and trying to eat pretty healthy but its been hard. You said you have probably gained 23-25 pounds, but if you haven't weighed yourself it may be less. I think that I am going to set a goal of only gaining one pound per week for the rest of my pregnancy so that I will be at about 35 pounds total, maybe trying to eat healthier options and exercise more if you aren't already could help you?
