Which prenatal vitamin are you using?

My OB gave me a bunch of samples - Vita-fol, Prenate Elite and Prenate DHA.  So far I am liking Prenate Elite the best (I used it with my other two pregnancies as well, so I might just stick with that).

When I first got my BFP, I was taking the Target brand PNVs, which were also pretty good.

I'm taking a Walgreens brand prenatal with DHA.  The pharmacist recommended it and my OB said it was a good choice.  The prenatal comes in two different containers - one with a gel pill and the other looks like a regular vitamin.

I'm using the target brand ones but the one that comes with DHA omega-3s. However I only take the vitamin every other day because my midwife says with my eating habits that's probably all I need. I work for a farmer's market managing their EBT/WIC programs so I'm eating TONS of leafy greens and fruits and veggies all the time. In the fall when things slow down I will probably go to everyday. Has anybody else asked their doctors about this?

Target brand gummy PNVs.  They are so good I would eat the whole jar as candy if I could.  At 31 I am still pretty bad at taking any pills bigger than an Advil.  My OB gave me some sample PNVs that were big enough for a horse.  Needless to say those were not going to work for me.

One thing about gummys is that they do not have iron.  I have been getting my iron from spinach, lentils, red meat, and raisins etc...

I also use the Target vitamins with the separate Omega 3 capsule.  I used to take them in the morning but they were making me even more sick so now I take them at night and that works well.

I've been doing the Bellybar Prenatal chewables which I got at Walgreens. I was going to ask my doctor at my apt today what he thought about them. I don't handle swallowing pills well especially with the nausea. These are like taking Flintstone vitamins.

I am taking women's one a day prenatals. I took these with my first pregnancy and they were great. I had to take an extra iron supplement because I had low iron.

This-- but I take the Rainbow Light Complete. It is 6 pills a day and I take 2 3x per day. I like the idea of vitamins being in my system all day-- but not with m/s the last thing I want to do is take any pills.

I'm kind of confused.  Are you all taking OTC prenatals because your insurance won't cover them??  I've always taken prenatals that I can get for a super cheap copay through my insurance.

Right now, I'm taken Prenaplus.  With my first pregnancy, I had a hard time stomaching prenatals, so I was given one that had a purple coating on it.  The coating really helped.  The ones I took with my second pregnancy were generic, but had a coating as well (white).  This time, I've not had any problem with the regular prenatal vitamins, but it could be because I've been taking them for about a year now.

I'm taking the Target brand gummy PNVs as well and also taking an iron pill supplement with it.  I usually get very nauseous with any type of daily vitamin, but if it's a gummy vitamin it doesn't bother me at all.  I found out a week or so ago that there isn't iron in them (stupid me for not checking myself at the get go) and then started taking the iron supplement which doesn't bother my stomach either.

For those in MI, IN or OH, you can get free prenatal vitamins from Meijer if you have a prescription.  So my NP wrote me a prescription as soon as I told her we wanted to start trying.  So, I don't know what kind it is, but it is free!

I feel like a horrible mother already. I haven't been taking my prenatal vitamins bc of morning sickness. I used to take my vitamins in the morning before work. Now I'm so sick in the mornings I don't take anything. Then at night another wave of m/s hits. I hate feeling sick that I don't want to risk upsetting my stomach more in the middle of the day. UGH!!

Try taking the prenatals at dinner, or with a small snack before bed.  I can't take mine in the morning either.  It's just too much on my stomach, not to mention I also take other medicine in the a.m.

I have a pretty cheap co pay as well, but the OTC ones I get are still cheaper and my doc said that they are just as good.

If my OB were to write me a script for a brand name, it would cost me twice as much as my Target brand does($10 vs under $5).  I recall having a generic prenatal while pg with DD, and they were huge horse pills.  I happened to grab the OTC ones the month before we TTC, so before I saw my OB.

Not sure which post confused you, so I'll answer as well. ;-)  I did the same thing - I took OTC vitamins until I met with my OB for the first time.  Then he gave me a bunch of samples.  When I see him next week, I'll have to ask him for a script.

Currently taking Naturemade prenatal one a day, but plan to switch to Rainbow light one a day once these run out. They have digestive enzymes, and are food-based, which is a plus for me.

I also take Fish oil, Vitamin D3, and Vitamin C every day. I've read a lot about fortifying the immune system during pregnancy and how it can prevent GBS (which was postive for last pg). I guess we'll find out how that works in 30ish weeks!

    What is GBS?

I take CVS brand prenatal vitamins with DHA.  I started taking them last september and havent had any issues so I am sticking to them.  When I went for my annual earlier this year I mentioned I was on them and the dr said it was fine.  All I do is take it with food and no problems...
