This was my grandmother's name. I was named after her. Thank goodness the Jewish tradition only requires the first letter be the same because I would not want this as my name. It's way too old lady for me.
I love old lady chic, but I'm not on board with Laverne yet. I also can't get past Laverne and Shirley. It's the only time I've ever heard the name. Never IRL.

Sorry first thing that popped into my head, used to be on Nick at Nite ! Anyway no kids these days would even think twice about that but still just really really NMS! The "verne" part just makes it sound so bleh... = sorry.
Lol, thanks for the input, guys. In an attempt to tame my baby rabies, DH agreed to going ahead with finding names for a future son or daughter. Laverne is my MIL's middle name, and I want to honor her by possibly using either her first or middle name for our next daughter.

I think of an old lady with blue hair. It just sounds old to me, not classy and old-fashioned.
I say no to the name.
I guess I'm in the minority here because I actually don't mind Laverne...but then again, I also don't mind Shirley.
Laverne reminds me of a toned down version of Lavender (which is awesome IMO).

Fine as a middle name.
As a first name, I downright despise it. Some old names (and my daughter even has one!) should just not make a comeback!
This.
And Shirley?
