Hello ladies!
So Im just about into my 2nd tri and Ive scheduled an appointment to have an early gender determination test in 2 weeks as well as a 3d image taken.. they said they can tell at 14 weeks.. has anyone had the gender test done and were they 100% right? Thanks!
Re: Early Gender Test
I believe it is the most accurate after 16 weeks. I have heard of ladies finding out as early as 14 weeks though! Just keep in mind that boy and girl parts look the same still around 14 weeks - so I guess just make sure your doctor knows what he's looking at before going out and buying pink or blue!
I have my gender determination ultrasound in 3 days
If you are doing a 3D and your LO has legs uncrossed, yes, you can tell with certainty at 14 weeks. I agree with above PP that boy and girl parts can look somewhat the same on the 2d u/s, but on 3D, I'm pretty sure we all can determine whether its a penis or a vagina.
Just an example of how much easier it is to tell sex on 3d vs 2d.
Good luck!
Yes I found out at 14w 2d and they were 100% correct
I'd go...
I did keep my recepits up until I had been told later on (several times) that it was still a boy. That way if for some crazy reason it turns out to be wrong you can just exchange the stuff. I wouldn't NOT buy things though. Find out and go spend some money on cute things!
Good luck!
I'm high risk so I have ultrasounds every 2 weeks... the Ultrasound Tech told me at 12 weeks we're having a girl (she said she was about 75% certain, but to be sure we should wait until 16/18 weeks). At 14 weeks she confirmed that she still thought it was a girl (and she said she was about 80% certain. Then at 16 weeks she said she was still pretty sure (95%) that it was a girl. I'm 23 weeks now and it's still a girl!
Depends on how good the doctor/ultrasound tech is, what position the baby's in, etc. My doctor has been in practice for almost 20 years and her ultrasound tech has been in practice for 13 years... so they have a lot of experience and they have a very high tech utlrasound machine because they deal exclusively with high risk pregnancies.
I had a gender u/s done at a boutique at just over 17w. We didn't really announce anything until after I got my u/s done at just about 19w.
I would say go and have it done, but don't put all your eggs into one basket(as they say). It could change from your u/s to your A/S around 20w.
Over the past few years, three of my closest childhood friends got their 3D u/s right at 16 weeks (mostly because the first one to have a baby was so thrilled with her experience) and theirs were all correct (2 boys and a girl). I'm debating if I can hold out for the a/s myself. The couple of places I checked near me said they allow you to come in at 14 weeks and if they are unable to tell the gender for any reason, you can come back as many times as it takes free of charge. Also, my one friend's advice was to hold off on any of the image packages until later in the pregnancy.
Thanks for the link. Very educational! They guessed 95% boy at our 12 week u/s because of the angle and they ended up being correct, but they had a clear shot and our tech was very good. It's tricky when you do it early.

I was told boy at 14.5 weeks at an elective scan with "100% certainty" and at 20 week anatomy scan we got a very clear shot showing that our little one is a girl! We didn't tell anyone after the elective 14.5 week scan thankfully nor did we buy anything. I would wait a couple more weeks or treat it as a guess!
