Prefold covers - am I "covered"?

Ok, so we've decided to do prefolds with covers for the newborn phase, and then do a Jilllian's drawers trial to make a decision about our next step.

Here's what I'm about to purchase for covers for NB:

Thirsties Duo Wrap Size 1 (4)

Bummis Super Snap Size Newborn (1)

Bummis Whisper Wrap Size Newborn (1)

 

Any other brands I should try out at this stage? Is six enough?

6 is plenty.

No brand suggestions as the ones I got sucked, but 6 should be enough.  I suggest at least 30 prefolds to go with them btw as newborns sometimes pee every hour.  Happy CDing!

Six is good, but I don't recommend the Whisper Wrap. The fabric is kind of inflexible, and the don't have double gussets. I'd recommend Bummis Super Brites or Proraps.

Ditto pp. I'd do a prorap (or anything else really) over the Whisper. Terrible cover. Otherwise looks good!

I'm working with six covers right now for my newborn and it is plenty.  I have 4 thirsties duo wraps and two rumparooz lil joey covers.  I like both and they both have adjustable rises so they will last a little longer.  I did find they lil joey covers get smaller than the thirsties and fit better under his cord stump.  They also have better velcro than the thirsties, double leg gussets, and cost less.  I don't think they will fit as long, but I've really liked them and would recommend trying them out.

Six is plenty, but I concur with pps about your choice of bummis covers. I definitely recommend the bummis super brites (I'd get one NB and one Small as the bummis NBs are super tiny) or a plain Prorap NB over the super snap or whisper wrap. I found the double leg gussets a must during the newborn stage.
