21 weeks and haven't felt baby move

I'm 21 weeks and I still haven't felt the baby move. Is this a cause for concern?

  • Have you seen it move on an ultrasound? As long as everything looks good, I would say don't worry. Everyone is different and feels things at different times. Also, if you're a first-timer, you might be feeling it and not realizing it. It wasn't until 21-22 weeks that I started feeling really obvious movements, and now (26 weeks) this kiddo will not stop. I would say you'll start feeling it soon!

  • Everything on the ultrasound looked good and I am a first timer. During the ultra sound we found out that I am further along than they thought. By the way, do you know how I an update that ticker or at least delete it?

  • I figured it out the ticker issue.

  • When you had your u/s did they mention if you had Anterior Placenta?  If you do, that means the placenta is at the front of your ute, so if baby kicks, it is absorbed by the placenta and therefore you don't notice until the movements become bigger and stronger.  You should start to feel something soon.  At first it might just feel like butterflies or bubbles bursting.  You might also have been mistaking gas for movement.

  • Same here - 21 weeks and haven't felt anything. I have an anterior placenta, though. Maybe you do as well?

  • I don't have an AP, but I didn't start feeling anything until just a couple of days ago. Once I realized what it was then I realized I had actually been feeling it for about a week before at random times. Mine feels more like muscle twitches and they just keep getting harder every day. Hope you feel LO soon!

  • Nothing yet here at 18 weeks and a FTM. So far u/s has been 100% fine, we have our gender scan on Monday the 3rd at 19 weeks so hopefully baby will start showing me something soon!
  • I'm 22 weeks and haven't felt much besides little twitches or taps...I was freaking out too, then at my last u/s at 20 weeks they told me I have an anterior placenta.  She was punching and kicking up a storm and I felt NOTHING.  The tech said it would be a couple more weeks until I felt more movement, and another month until I could feel kicks from the outside.  You may have an A/P and they just didn't mention it at your previous u/s.  I don't know if they can tell from just an exam or not...HTH!
  • I agree with a lot of the PP's.  You may have an AP.  With my DD I rarely felt her move due to it. If you continue to have issues feeling the baby move, you may want to request NST (non stress testing).  I had NST twice a week due to pre-term labor with DD, and thankfully was able to hear move around, due to the monitors, and she moved all the time...I just couldn't feel any of it.  Don't stress to badly about it.
  • Is this your first baby? With DS I didn't start feeling movement until like 25 weeks. And he was a really active baby. This time I already feel it. It usually takes longer with your first pregnancy. Everyone is different.

  • i didn't feel my baby move until around this time.

This. I was 25 weeks before I felt anything. Mine felt like muscle twitches not bubbles or butterflies like everyone kept saying. 21 weeks is still eextremely early.. ya normal :)
