So we all know that our sense of smell is hightened during pregnancy... Last night we had a huge rain storm with thunder and lighting, the whole shebang.  As soon as the lighting started I started to smell what I my husband said is Ions in the air, is it possible to smell the ozone from the thunder and lighting????

It is absolutely possible to smell ozone. You can also often smell it during heat waves.

Yup! Totally possible! I lived in Florida all my life (now CA) and I could smell the rain before it came or you could tell if it was going to be a bad storm just from the smell.

Ok phew.  I never smelled it before and last night I thought one of our appliances was burning out.

Oh yeah! You can definitely smell it. We get some crazy summer storms here at the beach, and I can smell them way before they hit.   Rain too.
