2nd Trimester

Did you know?

DH is planning a small babymoon and the poor guy has hit a few brick walls...

Did you know that a majority of cruise lines say that you can not travel with them after 24 weeks.  DH mentioned it was our babymoon and I'd be 34 weeks pg and they said no go.

I'm not allowed to fly as per doctors orders so looks like we'll be staying a lot closer than we intended.

Just thought I'd share in case some of you wanted to get some travel in while you are feeling good in the 2nd tri!

Re: Did you know?

  • I did! I actually just went on a cruise for my honeymoon and they required a note from my OB stating how many weeks I was, how many I'd be when we got back and when my due date was.

Sorry to hear your baby moon will be spent closer to home,

  • I'm sorry, that stinks!

They do it for a good reason though - it would really suck to be in the middle of the open ocean and have anything go wrong.

Yep!  Royal Caribbean's policy is to not let you board if you are at 24 weeks, or will hit 24 weeks at ANY time during the cruise, even the very last day when you are only on board for like 3 hours.

I think it's because before 24 weeks the baby isn't technically viable so they couldn't be blamed for a m/c.

I hope you can find something close to you and have a great time!  I think DH and I are going to head to the mountains in North GA for a long weekend.

  • I would assume that since you're on bed rest as instructed by your doctor, you would want to stay close to home and your hospital. I can't imagine a cruise would be safe in our situation, even if you went before 24 weeks.

  • It's probably for the best.  A lot of things can go wrong on a cruise ship.  If the power went out, food went bad, anything like that, it would be even more devastating for pregnant woman.  Not to mention cruises are a prime environment for germs.

I hope you can find a reasonal babymoon close to home.
