Member how my 9 yo had strep & chicken pox last week?

Then my 6yo's rapid strep test came back negative and I was all "PHEW!"

 

Turns out, his other test was +.  And so was my husband's.  And mine.  And the baby gets a swab tomorrow.

 

GAH.  Guess that tight-chest, sinus/ear infection cold I thought I had was actually strep. 

SUPER gah.  

 

And the nurse who called was all "THROW OUT THE TOOTH BRUSHES!!  WASH THE DOOR HANDLES!!!  WASH ALL THE WALLS!!!! I'M SO SO SO SORRY!!!!"  

Lucky us.  5 petri dishes, one home.

that happened to us last year.  DD had it, DS seemed to have it but was Dx'd with an EI when the rapid strep came back -.  They called back later in the week and said the test they sent out was +.  I said, yah, I know b/c I have strep now too.

Strep is the worst.

Betsy and I both had it a couple of weeks ago, and the pedi told me that they may stop treating strep altogether.

We all passed around a cold. Started with Rosalie and she was over it in 2 days. I took a week to start feeling human and now DD#1 has it.

I never got sick before I had kiddos. 

 

Oh well, time to gargle with warm whiskey?!?

I don't know WHY they wouldn't treat it.  That's SO messed up.

I thought strep was one of those things that doesn't get better without antibiotics. WTF? I mean, I've heard of viral strep, which would get better without, but it seems like if the strep tests were +, then it's bacterial.

I think on Mondays he exists just to upset me. 

He's demanding a swab first and if it's neg, he won't be taking drugs.  GROWWWWLLLLLL.  Thing is, the rapid test came back neg for my son, which is why we've all been ho hum about being careful and now we all have strep.  Yay. Ha ha ha. Yay.

Grrrr.  Aaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhh.
