38-wk sono "because I'm 35"

Doc suggested I come in for a sonogram this week (at 38 weeks) because I'm 35. I've had a very healthy pregnancy and passed all screening tests with flying colors. Haven't had a sono since 20 weeks. Curious what they might be looking for. Didn't ask her because I was running out of the doc's office to go back to work when she came after me to schedule it. Guess I'll find out tomorrow when I go in for it.

Probably fluid levels & active baby. I think they go a bit overboard with the whole AMA thing. Last time I had GD and they made me have an u/s every week for the last several weeks - good grief. I get the concerns, but geesh...

my doc gave me one at 39 weeks or 38, i cant remember exactly -must be my "old age" of 35.  anyhoo, he said it was to check position and fluid levels. ( I think he was loooking for a reason to induce tho because he seemed very pro-inducing.)  could be something similar for you.  just enjoy the extra sneak peak at you LO!

I guess every doc is different.  When I was pg with DS, I was 38 in the last 1/2 of the pg and my last u/s was 19w.  The only other tests I had after that point were the GD test and the Group B strep.

I would think they may be looking at fluid levels and positioning.  Do you know if your doc thinks your lo may be transverse or breech?

I had one 2 weeks ago where they checked growth, fluid and placenta. I asked if it was because I'm an oldie and they said no.

Nope, not breech either. Guess I'll find out today why. I need another doc appointment like a need a hole in the head but I am curious to see him again.
