Here are some family names that I am working with...mn is still set to be Jane (that won't change).
Miranda
Della
Elsie (please no "cow" remarks- this is a beloved deceased family member)
Ruby (this is also the name of a big company in this area so it may not be a good fit)
Elizabeth (not really big on Elizabeth but really like Betty)
Our last name is two syllables long and starts with F
Thanks for your time!
Re: Family Names
Since the mn is one syllable and the last name is two...do you think Elizabeth would make the name look unbalanced (since since it's 4)...It seems a bit long to me. I really like the idea of Betty Jane.
Dude, your family names are awesome. I'm over here working with Phyllis and Kay.
Betty is one of my all time favorites and I think Betty Jane is adorable. Ruby Jane is cute too, but I would probably nix it if I lived close to the company like you do. Della and Miranda are nice too. Elsa might be a nice alternative to Elsie, if you're worried about it being associated with the mascot. I think Elsa would still honor your family member.
I like Miranda a lot, it was our second choice name for DD. Della is my mom's name, so I thinkit is ok too.
I wouldn't use Ruby based on what you said about the company.
If you like Betty, you can use that as the whole name, it doesn't have to be a nn.

Thanks!
We thought about Elsa but DH prefers Elsie. I'm a little worried that Elizabeth is too long. It looks a little lopsided when I write it all out. Elizabeth would work for either Betty or Elsie though...
Aw, Ruby Jane is my niece's name, and I love it.
Other than Ruby, I think Della Jane is my favorite. There's not a name on your list that I dislike.

Elizabeth jane sounds good but if you don't like the name elizabeth do Betty jane.
Ruby jane sounds good together but I don't like the name. Kinda weird.
I actually like the name Elsie Jane. Very cute.
I love this suggestion. My great-great grandmother passed away a couple of years ago, and her name was Elsie. We've discussed using Elsa with Elsie as a nickname to honour her. I also love Ruby and Elizabeth! Your family names are great!

Miranda Jane - very nice! Miranda is NMS, but it has a good flow to it.
Della Jane - My fave
Elsie - I won't make a cow remark, but Elsie Jane is just too cutesy of a combo for me; I don't think it'd be very professional later in life (see advice below)
Ruby Jane - bc of the company association, I wouldn't do it...otherwise it's very nice. Then again, who knows if you'll live there 5 years down the road
Elizabeth (Betty) Jane - LOVE!
My other piece of advice: Have you considered using Elizabeth and nicknaming her Elsie? I think it'd work...and it wouldn't be as cutesy as Elsie Jane. She could go by something more professional when she grows up, and you'd be able to honor your family member, too
I do not like any of them...which is a main reason I do not name after family members. That & I feel like choosing one to name your baby after is wrong. What makes one person better than another? Sorry just my opinion
& I do understand people do it to honor family members & that is fine, I totally respect that. It is just not my style.

Miranda is on our short list!
It's not about one of them being better than the other. It's about passing down a name of someone I was close to down to the younger generation. It's traditional in my family to do so (so we don't view it as wrong, but an honor to name our children after someone we love). Plus I really like these names.
Miranda for sure!
It's familiar but not common, and an all around beautiful name.
I have a friend that has a 4 month old DD with that name and they call her Mira, which I also really like.
I like your other name choices as well, but just not as much.
