Rocking the Bikini While Prego: Yes or No?

I can't decide.  I still fit in both swimsuits (two-piece bikinis) from last year.  They're not super small or anything and I'm comfortable but was wondering if anyone had any feedback.  Is it gross to wear one on the beach (I'll be about 24 weeks) or not?

Re: Rocking the Bikini While Prego: Yes or No?

  • I don't think it is gross - if you got it, flaunt it! Although I wouldn't do it, just because of the unsightly things that have been happening since the beginning of this pregnancy! ;)

  • I just got back from the bahamas and flaunted my bikini. I haven't worn a 1 piece or tankini since I was 13 so I'm not going to start now...unless my body decides to revolt.

  • I don't think it's gross at all. On our honeymoon there was a couple at our hotel who were on their babymoon and the woman looked amazing and adorable in her bikini.

The only real thing that would prevent me from wearing a bikini while pregnant would be bad stretch marks. I'm prone to them so I'm just waiting to see what happens.

  • I like to think of it as the one time I don't have to concentrate on "sucking it in". Definitely rock the bikini!

  • this is a good question, and one i'm trying to figure out as well. I don't have any one pieces, and i'd really rather not shell for one, esp if it has to be maternity because a) i'll probably won't need to wear it again for a long time, if ever, and b) I'm only needing it for  a week when we go to michigan.

Honestly, if my DH and i were going to be on a beach with a bunch of strangers, i'd probably have no qualms about wearing a 2 piece. the issue is we'll be on the lake at a house with my brothers, stepbrother, and sisters/stepsisters and all their spouses/so's. so yeah, i'm assuming that would make everyone uncomfortable. . . i'm hoping i can find a cheap 1 piece that's non maternity that will still fit/look right.

  • Personally, I'm not comfortable with my new big boobies to wear one, but if you're comfy then why not?! Flaunt it girl!

Rock it. I rocked bikinis throughout our whole babymoon in Florida 2 weeks ago, I've been rocking one at our lake house (even in front of the ILs), and plan to wear them next weekend with my family at the shore. I loved the way my belly looked...my thighs are a different story... :)

  • If it fits and you're comfortable, go for it!

I was planning to wear mine, but I discovered that while my bikini bottoms still fit, I had way outgrown the top and needed a new one.  I also got belly acne...so I just got a maternity tankini top to wear with my old bikini bottoms.

  • I think that it it totaly adorable! If I could do it, I would in a second.  A bump is cute, and you only have it for 9 months, show it off!

Put it this way, if other people have a problem with it they can look away. If you feel comfortable showing it then go for it. I went for a 2 piece when we went to the beach, the only reason why I had a shirt with me was because it was May on the west coast so a bit breezy. :)

  • it's up to you, i'm all for it. but personally, i wouldn't show my bump off 'cause my bump is just downright nasty. hahaha, i've got a lot of unsightly things going on. but i'm sure yours is cuter than mine, so show it off! :)

  • I personally wouldn't, but some people still look good while pregnant, so I guess it all depends on the person.

  • Heck yes I rock a bikini!  I think i look much better in a bikini than I do in a tankini or one piece at this point.

Why is it in bad taste?  Just because that is how you feel about it doesn't mean it's distasteful.  What is wrong with a pregnant woman in a bikini?  Pregnancy is beautiful and if a woman feels comfortable, more power to them!  I only have bikini bathing suits and am certainly not going to spend money on one I may or may not wear again.

Foolishly spending on something to wear minimal times is in bad taste to me.

  • I was just asking this question to myself, my DH and a friend of mine.  We're going to the beach this weekend for an overnight trip and I had to get a bathing suit.  DH lovesssss how I look pregnant (I'm sure the large boobs help haha) so I asked both of them and they both said no it's not gross, and do it!  Sooooo, I went for it.  I'm actually excited!  I got a skirt bathing suit bottom which covers up my growing hips and looks much better than a bikini bottom, and then a regular bikini top (obviously for woman with boobs).  DO IT! =)

Rock that bikini!!  Just make sure you've got a big enough top.

At first I thought I'd be self conscious, and then honestly, I looked around, and there were people in bikinis who you'd never think would/should wear one, and if they were comfortable in their skin, why shouldn't I be comfortable with my awesome bump?

  • There's a girl at my pool with a perfect solution for you: She's probably 8 months pregnant or so and has a regular pink and white bikini, and she wears a plain cotton Old Navy/Target type tank over the top. Still needs a bikini top underneath for support and opacity, but I think it looks cute! I'll def be doing this later in the summer instead of buying an $$$$ tankini top.

  • Rock it! I wish I could, but I already have stretch marks :( Plus, I live in Florida, and trust me, there are plenty of people in bikinis around here that aren't pregnant, just extremely overweight.... There is nothing gross about a baby bump!
