I wouldn't put any stock into a guess until 18-20 weeks. Some women find out sooner (14-16 weeks) but those early predictions wind up being wrong a lot of the time.
TTC 12/2009 Me: 32 - Stage II Endo / DH: 36 - Low count and morphology (1%) IUIs 1-3 BFN, lap Dec. 2010, IUIs 4-6 BFN IVF w/ICSI #1 - ER 2/8: 24R 19M 9F ET 2/13 2-5 day blasts (no frosties) = BFP - b/g twins! E & C Born 10/19/2012
You can tell with pretty good certainty around 16 weeks. If you have good equipment, a good tech, and baby is postioned right you can tell sooner. Most doctors wait until 20 weeks to do the gender ultrasound. It's much more accurate at that point. With Grant we found out at 13 weeks (very earlier and genitals are not fully formed so it's looking at the angle of things). We ended up going for a real confirmation at 16 weeks. With this baby we found out at 16 weeks.
Just found out at an elective ultrasound (yesterday at 16 weeks) that its a girl (3 white lines clearly visible), we were also told girl at our NT scan (12 weeks)... we took that with a grain of salt but she was right!
We found out we were having a boy at our NT scan at 13 weeks, 4 days (she bet her job on the sex she was so confident!) But typically you will find out btwn 18 and 20 weeks.

Typically a doctor won't tell you until somewhere around 18-22 weeks.
That being said, there are places that offer elective ultrasounds as early as 16 weeks to determine the gender.
I'm having an elective scan done on June 30th to hopefully find out
