S/O Vitamins

I made a clicky, but it vanished. Stupid, freaking Bump.

Anyway, the vitamin post below made me curious. Am I the only idiot that hasn't been giving their kid vitamins? Is he ruined for lyfe?

  • I replied in the original thread below too that we have never done them either.  Our doctor has never mentioned it, but I will bring it up at the 18 month check up.  I'm not opposed to vitamins.  I just hadn't given it much thought since I have never been worried about her food intake or weight to this point to start thinking about supplements.

See, we did have issues with his weight about six months ago and his pediatrician never mentioned trying a vitamin supplement. He's still not a great eater and I'm wondering if I've been overlooking the obvious. I think I'll be looking into vitamins for him.

  • I gave up trying to get my kid to take the damn vitamins. I even lied to my dr when she asked me if I was giving him vitamins. And I totally didn't know you could buy gummy vitamins for this age group. All the ones I saw said 4+. DS is totally ruined for life between that and putting his carseat on the shopping cart.

    Mom fail.

  • Our pedi has never mentioned vitamins despite B's weight issues.  It wouldn't hurt so I should probably look into it.
  • I would only give them if I had poor eaters. Since mine generally eat pretty good I don't see a need.

  • I keep DD on them because I have iron deficient anemia and I worry that DD might develop vitamin deficiencies as well. Her pedi recommends it too.

Similar situation, then. I think I'll shop around for some today. I kind of feel ridiculous for never having thought of it?especially with the way he eats.

Thank you! Yours is a cutie too! Love his eyes!

Also, don't feel bad! Sometimes we as parents overlook the obvious. Recently, I realized that the reason DS2 was having tummy problems was because he is Lactose Intolerant and still getting some cheese and yogurt. Major fail on my part.

  • If I could get him to take vitamins I probably wouldn't have an issue with him eating vegetables anyway.  They said he eats fine at daycare and he's not too small so I think we're fine.

  • I asked her DD's doctor at the 12 month and 15 month appointments.  He said that she didn't need them and to hold off for now.

  • I don't but I just recently wondered if I should because DS has been refusing all fruits and veggies for the past couple of weeks.  He didn't eat many to begin with.

From about 9 months onwards DS has been taking "Animal Parade" vitamins everyday. They are whole food sourced liquid. So I know he's absorbing it all. He asks for more every time.
