DH just came home with confirmed strep throat wtf! Any one's kid had this yet? With limited communication what are some signs I should watch for with DD? TIA!
Fever, no desire to eat or drink b/c it hurts to swallow and their throat will sound swollen when they talk. Sounds weird, but you can hear it in their voice. Really, any fever after a confirmed case in the house or classroom and I'd get their throat swabbed.
Make sure your DH replaces his toothbrush. Wash your hands frequently. DD gave it to DS1 and me last year, it was not fun. I had it worse than they did. =(
Betsy has had this at least five times so far this year, last week most recently. A high fever is the most typical warning sign; however, on one occasion she never ran a fever over 99 so I thought it was teething and only took her to the doctor after she threw up about three days into the fever. That didn't make me feel like shiit at all, let me tell you.
Other than fever--fussiness, lack of appetite, etc.
Our pedi said it's rare for a child under 2 to get strep throat. That being said, Oliver has already had it once. When he had it he ran a high fever (102-103), he was cranky and just wanted me to sit with him and watch TV. You will be able to tell if your LO has strep, trust me. Oliver felt worse with strep than any other time he's been sick.

Wow. It sounds like she might be a carrier. Has your pedi said anything about having her tonsils removed? The twins both ended up having their tonsils removed because we could not get rid of the strep.

He hasn't said anything, even though she was diagnosed with strep on three separate occasions in Feb/March alone. Hmmm.

Do you have to have a referral to see a specialist? If not, I'd be calling an ENT. I'd get those suckers removed ASAP. I know some ENT's will do it at 2. If she is getting strep that often this young I can only imagine how bad it will be in a few years.
My DS just had his tonsils removed for reoccurring strep. He had it 7 times in 7 months. Vomiting can occur with strep, so that is a warning sign. Not sleeping well, not drinking or eating can all point towards strep. The first couple of times he had it, he did not run a high fever. Strep sucks! However, we had his tonsils removed 3 weeks ago and this is the longest we've went without antibiotics!

A got swabbed for it when he had a really high fever, lack of appetite, and was lethargic but turned out to just be a virus.
