Baby shower

I had my son 12 months ago and now i am already 4 months pregnant with my second. I had a baby shower the first time around. Should i have another shower for this child? I have pretty much everything and all in great condition (play stations, jumpers, car seat, etc.). I dont know the sex of the baby yet but people are asking if i am going to have a shower. Any thoughts?

It is considered bad etiquette to have one for the second child.  Specially since you had a baby a year ago.  If someone offers, I would let them, but I wouldn't register for gifts, or you look a little gift grabby.

Taking etiquette into account, I don't believe you should have a baby shower for baby #2, unless in some cases, there is a large gap between the 2 children.  For instance, my mom had my little sister 16 years later.  However, if someone offers to throw you a shower for baby #2, I think that would be different.  Once you find out the sex, if people are still asking you whether or not you're having a shower, I would just tell them that you're having a boy (or a girl), and let them know that you're not sure if you're having a shower or not.

Thanks! Yea i hadn't planned on having a shower, due to me just having a baby. But then people had asked and then i didn't know what to do .lol

Probably not in the best of taste. I personally wouldn't do it, but it's your life not mine...

This or a pregnancy celebration party.  Just have a potluck BBQ with friends the overriding theme could be your pregnancy but it would just really be a get together with friends.

My mom and aunts want to do a second shower for me.  There is really no talking them out of it. I'm going to ask them if we can put a spin on it and make it more of a "reveal the sex of the baby/celebrate baby/come see how huge I am" party.  I will not register for gifts.

Many women have a sprinkle the 2^nd time around, especially if you are having the opposite sex from the first child. A sprinkle is completely ok and very common. Usually, instead of registering for gifts, mommy?s to be just ask for more of ?stock the nursery? items. Ex. Diapers, wipers, burp cloths, etc. But cute new outfits never hurt either.

What I find extremely irritating - not only is my brother's girlfriend having a baby shower for her second one (2 years after her first), but when no one offered she actually had the nerve to ask my mom to throw her one.  When my mom suggested the meet and greet party after baby is born, she wanted nothing to do with it because she wants a second baby shower.  I believe she plans to register and everything.  Plus the stuff she got for first baby she didn't even take care of (i.e. brand new stroller was left outside during winter/rain and was never taken care of and before she knew what she was having she bagged up and threw all of her DD baby clothes outside instead of taking them to good will or anything).  She wants a second baby shower because she doesn't have anything for the new baby!!!!  Talk about bad etiquitte.

I agree - 2nd showers are tacky. I would definitely raise an eyebrow if I got an invitation in the mail for a shower for someone's 2nd baby. Meet n Greet much better!

I COMPLETELY DISAGREE!!! This is a whole different baby a whole different life to celebrate! Especially if it is a little girl! Obviously don't register for anything you don't need but every blessing should be celebrated. It is not tacky at all!
