Spent Father's Day in L & D

I started having contractions at 11 am on Sunday. By the time we got to the hospital at 1:40, they were 6 minutes apart. Nurse confirmed PTL and they immediately started if and drugs to stop labor. Once they got it stopped they checked my cervix and did an u/s. Thank God, my cervix was still closed, but it had softened and shortened. They kept me overnight and I only experienced the routine contractions I've been having since 14 weeks. They allowed me to come home, but placed me on strict bed rest with the understanding that if we go down this path again, I will not be allowed to leave the hospital. I'm glad the girls are safe for now and I'm taking the bed rest very seriously. It was terrifying. I go back to my OB on Thursday to check for any progression.

This is my siggy. Love it.

  • Wow, good luck.  Hopefully they stay put for as long as possible.
  • So glad things were able to be stopped! I'm hanging out resting and relying on procardia and p17 right now, and doing pretty well. Hopefully you can rest and keep those girls cooking for quite awhile. Do you have help for your DD?

My incredible aunt is footing the bill for daycare. Without my income, we couldn't afford it and there was no way I could care for her 50 hours a week from bed while DH works. I've been very emotional about not being able to care for her. I know she'll love getting to play with other kids and the daycare is very reputable. I also know I absolutely have to do what's best for all three of my children. I just feel guilty that the "new" babies are robbing her of some mommying already.

How is everyone coping with bed rest? What do you do to fill your time?

  • How scary - I'm so glad they were able to get things under control. I hope the bed rest keeps the contractions away for a long, long time!
