2nd Trimester

Update from last nights post about spotting

Many of you ladies gave me useful input and reassurance I needed so I thought I'd update you all with what's going on.

I woke up this morning bleeding bright red :(  So I called my obgyn and they had me come in to do lab work. He told me to be cautiously optimistic and that this could go either way. So I did a blood draw today and will go in 48 hrs after that and do it again. They will compare my hcg levels and from that determine if what my body is doing. I'm not very hopeful though because I am bleeding enough to where I need a pad all the time. But until Wednesday it will just have to be a waiting game.

I'm doing ok. I was pretty emotional earlier today only because I tried really hard to lead my dh on to believe that our efforts in ttc this month weren't going to be successful because I felt like last month I hyped up my phantom symptoms. I did a good job because he was totally shocked but happy when I told him. And then a few hours later the spotting begun and I begun to feel like a let down, again. I'm just disappointed. He's actually handling this better than I thought he would which I'm very thankful for. Once I realized that I let a lot of things go.

But thank you ladies for taking the time to respond to last nights post! I will keep you updated when I learn what those levels are on Wednesday!

  • I'm sorry you're going through this. I really hope it is a positive turn out for you, but if not it seems that you have a good outlook and a husband who will be there to support you. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

  • Sorry about the spotting. I've had it in 5 pregnancies. Two resulted in babies, three resulted in miscarriages. It can go either way but T&P that it's fine for you.

How far along are you? Posting in 2nd tri, I assume you're in 2nd tri? If so, betas won't tell you much since there is a huge variation of levels by now AND they start to decline after 12 weeks... so really an ultrasound is better if you are past 7 weeks.

  • I am really sorry.  I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for your blood draw on Wednesday.

I had bright red bleeding and I know of some other women on the boards that have had it and gone on to have healthy pregnancies.  I really hope that there is some other explanation for the bleeding.

I would only be 4 weeks and 2 days along. I was posting on the 2nd tri board last night because I figured you girls were the ones that would have "been there and done that" and would be the most resourceful. Thank you for you T&P. All of you ladies are so thoughtful. Thank you, thank you!

  • If you're only 4 weeks, I hope your OB also checked your progesterone.  Low progesterone can totally cause bleeding.
