The first time we swapped area rugs from room-to-room and moved paintings around. Also swapped a few painting from storage. Loved the results.
Recently we swapped the guest room bed/frame into the master. And then swapped the area rug from the living room and bedroom. Cleared some clutter. SUPER love it.
Feels like a new house.

I prefer to shop other people's houses when I am there on social occasions. I like to move random things from one room to another. You know, like grabbing a set of car keys and putting them in a heat duct, or taking a beautiful wind up alarm clock and placing it into a decorative kitchen tin (after setting the alarm to 4 a.m.). Occasionally I "shop" really nice items from a friend's house back to my own. It is so zany when they finally come over and see how I have redecorated with their stuff.
At first, I thought this post was all about regifting crap from your house to other people . We had a set of hanging picture frames that made a huge photo collage on the wall in our bedroom. Previously it had all engagement photos in them. Once we had DD (and we have now been married 7 years), I figured it was better purposed with all of the professional baby photos we have done this year, and I moved it to the side entryway stairs up to the main level.

Dude, you're my hero. lol.
To be fair, I didn't really know what the term meant and I had to refer to my buddy, Google. And Google had a tough time with it too. The only reference I could find was "shopyourhouse.com" and that site made me immediately think of one of those pyramid schemes like Body by Vi or those candle people or whatever.

My Dad hosted a party at his girlfriends house and we rearranged a bunch of her pictures and chachkis while we were there. It really was a good time.
We did this because she first decorated with some antique dishes that she "shopped" from my house. They were a gift from my grandmother/family heirlooms.
Iv never heard this term before. If 'shopping my house' just means rearranging furniture. Yes iv done that. If shopping other people's houses means stealing. No, I haven't done that, but if I ever do I guess Ill just say I was shopping.
I don't understand this ribbon at all. I have set alarms for unreasonable times at people's houses though. Did I win? Where is my prize?
"Shopping Your House" refers to rearranging rooms with existing furniture, paintings, rugs, maybe taking something out of storage that you have used...and incorporating it into a room for a new look. Instead of shopping at a store for "new" things, you "shop your house" for existing items.

In that case, yes, we just rearranged the entire living room. So much better now. It made me want to do every room in the house but I held back.

Oh. I've always just referred to that as rearranging the house. I didn't realize there was a fantzy name for that. Weird.

I like to shop at my parent's house.
I recently scored a picnic table and benches that my grandfather handmade in the 60's. It's pretty fantastic.
