Leaking pull-ups at night

DS1 is almost 4. He has been fully PT since he was 2 but is still in pull-ups at night. He wants to sleep without pull-ups but he almost never wakes up dry (although a lot of times he pees in the pull-up once he is already awake). Recently the pull-ups have been leaking more and more often. He is 36 pounds and in size 5 pull-ups.

Is waking him up at night to use the bathroom a good idea? Will it disrupt his sleep?

Re: Leaking pull-ups at night

  • we were running into the same thing. we cut out drinks except for small sips after dinner time and that really seems to have helped.
  • Loading the player...
  • They sell more absorbent training pants specifically for night time.  When we let him sleep in our bed sometimes I'll make him get up to pee and he falls right back to sleep (I woke up wet once and dont' want that to happen again).  The only time it really disrupts him is when we wake him in our bed then send him to his.
  • I have one son that is a power peer.  He soaked the night time pull ups, even with a diaper doubler in it.  We switched to Good Nights or other bedtime underpants designed for older kids and it seems to have done the trick.

While limiting drinks works for some people, my kiddos suffer from constipation issues so we can't really do that.
