Nuchal Test

in 2nd Trimester

Hello Ladies,

 

Im just about into my second tri with my first.. I have a appt Wednesday for the Nuchal Translucency test... Ive heard some stories that sometimes they tell you the gender and Ive also heard the test is long.. would love some feedback. Thank you!!

    Thank you! A girlfriend at work told me they gave her a 80% that it was a girl and it turned out being a boy... I wont trust it yet!

    I asked at mine and was told they don't make "guesses" and they wouldn't tell me; had to wait until my Level 2 u/s. Mine wasn't long at all..only took about 10-15 min with the tech and then the dr came in to talk over everything with me.
    2/11 Diagnosis: DOR-AMH .62, LPD and MFI-4% Morph
    IVF #1-July 2011 7/9/11-Started Stims
    7/20/11-ER:No eggs in 4/5 follicles. Left the 5th follie intact and converted to an IUI
    8/3/11-Beta #1=BFN,
    Nov, 2011 BFP #1=m/c at 7 wks 3 days
    11/11-AMH .47, IVF #2 March 2012...or not!! Surprise BFP on 2/19. Beta #1=161. Beta #2 305 Our little miracle girl is on her way! Due Oct 29, 2012

    I had one a few weeks ago. My u/s tech said it was too early to tell the gender, but I'm hearing there are more experienced techs that make guesses. Maybe my tech wasn't allowed. Anyway, my scan took about 30 min because the baby kept moving and they couldn't get a good measurement of the Nuchal Fold. They kept making me cough and shaking my belly. Eventally they got it, but I didn''t mind the extra time peeking at my active baby! Good luck!

    My tech wouldn't guess either.  She said it was too soon to be able to tell a difference anyway.

    My NT was not very long at all if I count the ultrasound time.  That was about 15 mins.  The waiting before and the genetic counseling meeting after took a bit longer so the whole appt ended up being a few hours but that had nothing to do with the NT u/s itself.

    mine took forever because baby B was not in a showing mood.  They also never checked for the sex of the twins.

    From everything I've ever seen about the baby's development, it's really not possible to tell if it's a boy or girl that early. I wish you could, but I think the odds are still 50/50 :)

    My NT scan only took about 10 minutes, but the baby was in the right position and the tech was able to get the measurements he needed right away. My friend's took over an hour because baby would not move to the right place.

    My NT ultrasound took about 30 minutes. The baby was moving around a LOT, so that's why it took that long. My ultrasound tech did not even try to guess at the baby's sex. We'll find that out at 18 weeks as long as the baby is crossing his or her legs. ;)

    I got my NT results back within two days, which I thought was very quick!
