welts from dirty diaper

When DS dirties his diaper and we don't catch it right away he gets red welts all over his little bum (and since he's started solids he's been pooping around the clock!). Right now we're using coconut oil.  It's safe for his BG 4.0s and so far has worked better than any other diaper rash creams.  Anything else I can do to help him?

Baking soda baths helped my LO when he had a rash.

DD is the same. We've found lots of diaper free time and baking soda baths help. We didn't find that Coconut oil has helped heal the rashes, the only thing that has worked for us is Grandma El's and GroVia Magic Stick.

To what? The food? It can't be the food, because he did this before we started him on solids.  He's just pooping more now, so it's very irritated.  And we've been on several kinds of formula, no change there.

This happens with DD when she's teething. Naked time and not rubbing/wiping have been the most effective for us. We pat on the red areas if we need to apply cream or clean poop.

we got some oatmeal bath so we will try that next.  How much baking soda do you put in for a baking soda bath?

Are you using the coconut oil every change or just for the rash?  Sounds like he needs a better "barrier" so the poop doesn't really touch his skin. I'm personally a fan of CJs butter
