I want to name my daughter Andrea (I would pronounce it Ann-dree-ah) and her nickname would be Andi do you think the name and the nickname are cute? I think Andi is a fun and spunky nickname and reminds me of beautiful Andie Macdowell.wdyt?
I had a friend Andrea who went by Andi when I was a kid and I always loved the name. As an adult, she goes mostly by Andrea but some close friends still call her Andi.
I really like both the name and nn. I have a friend named Andrea who goes by Andi (although I think she spells it Andy) and she's super cute, spunky, and fun.
My mom's NN is Andi, and she loves it. It will always have a special place in my heart, so Andi definitely gets a thumbs up from me.

My name is Andrea and that's how I pronounce it too - Andi is my nn. All my family and close friends from childhood still call me Andi. However most of my adult friends including my husband call me Andrea. Glad you like it I'll tell my mom! lol
My name is Andrea. I hate my name. I hated being called Andy. It really really got old. This is my feelings on it. I am now called Drea. Since I really hate my name
Another Andrea piping in here. I like my name. I wasn't a huge fan of going by Andi, and the NN never really stuck for me either. Some people will call you that anyway, but I prefer the nickname Dre or Drea, but that is just my preference. My husbands family simply calls me Ani, but mostly because of our young nephew. Andrea is VERY hard for young children to pronounce.
The only actual complaint I can think of about the name Andrea is that there are a few different ways to pronounce it and you will get called every version. Even those who have known me for years will sometimes slip and call me by another version. Other than the various ways to pronounce it, I think it is a great name. It is not to terribly common (I never had another Andrea in my class ever), but not totally out there either. I also agree that it is somewhat timeless. I know women much older than me with the name, and younger ones. I don't think it screams any particular generation.
A friend just named her new daughter Andie (full name). I prefer it as a nickname for something like Andrea rather than on its own, so I say go for it!
