I have bought a few maternity things though they fit terribly and I don't really like them, though this is #2 and I don't want to spend a fortune on clothes I wear for three months so I've been looking everywhere and am sucking it up not to spend a fortune!! But I broke down last night and went to the mall and bought a couple of dresses at Motherhood which almost killed me b/c the quality doesn't match the price! And also grabbed a couple things from target (great quality for the price!!)
BUT...My bump is cute and I'm not gaining a lot of weight all over this time and feel more comfortable showcasing the bump with fitted clothes. Any ideas where to look for a more fitted maternity? I've been trying on a ton of reg dresses and such but I think my back is shaped funny and there is a lot of bunched up material back there and since I need to go up a couple of sizes for the bump I need to have them all taken in up top. I think it would be easier to just find a couple comfy fitted maternity dresses. Thanks!
Re: where to buy fitted maternity?
Target has some and Gap Maternity is a good bet for tighter tops and pants.
I'm not sure what regular dresses you're buying but tighter jersey material ones should stretch with you and not fit too weirdly.
Gap is really good right now. I bought this dress. It is form fitting and super cute (plus incredibly comfortable). I got some cute tees and tops from Old Navy that were super cheap and form fitting as well. You can combine orders from both places to get to the $50 you need for free shipping.

Just got this in the mail and I love it! I ordered a bigger size (L) since they didn't have a M available but since it's form fitting it's not a big deal. Shows off my cute bump! Hangs a little long in the front currently but once my bump grows some more will look fantastic I think! I'm all for not spending a ton either and this will be good for summer and in fall throw on some knee high boots and a cardigan.

Motherhood closed around here, so we have no specialty maternity stores anymore. In order to be creative, save money, and find something comfortable to wear, I have been shopping consignment and thrift stores and have gotten LOTS of really good clothes. I have about 10 cute maternity summer dresses now and some really nice skirts. (I am just not a jeans and yoga pants type of girl, so I keep looking around). I was also lucky enough to get one set of hand me downs and use some of the pieces from that often. We have 2 kids' consignment stores around here that sell great maternity items. And the Goodwill around here is pretty good too, I just keep popping in regularly to see what they have --stock changes pretty regularly, so you have to be patient and plan ahead--rather than rushing to get a specific item. It's worked well for me and I get compliments on the dresses all the time. Another thing that helped was I bought a few that did not fit well on their own, but with a belt between boobs and belly looks really cute. Luckily a yard sale across the street recently had LOTS of belts to choose from, so I picked up a few that fit my new circumference.
For the bathing suit and a nice semi formal dress, I had to wait until I was traveling to a city with a few options to shop in real stores for those items, but they certainly did cost much more than all my other maternity clothes....
I have the long version of this dress and I freaking love it. It's very flattering.
