What the Eff Is a Durian Fruit??

Anyway, happy Friday to all the friday-ticker-changers and all of the August mamas! I can't believe how far we've all come and how close we're getting to holding our little ones! I'm 33 weeks today (h.o.l.y. s.h.!.t) and baby's the size of a durian fruit (??) Only 49 days until my EDD!

What fruit are you this week/How far along are you?

How are your symptoms?

Any new milestones to report? (feeling a foot, feeling baby hiccup, etc)

**Have you taken any birth classes/did you find them worth while?**

Re: What the Eff Is a Durian Fruit??

  • i always chucklle when i see the durian fruit used.

"The edible flesh emits a distinctive odour, strong and penetrating even when the husk is intact. Some people regard the durian as fragrant; others find the aroma overpowering and offensive. The smell evokes reactions from deep appreciation to intense disgust, and has been described variously as almonds, rotten onions, turpentine and gym socks. The odour has led to the fruit's banishment from certain hotels and public transportation in southeast Asia."

yum.  seriously?  could they find nothing better to use?

What fruit are you this week/How far along are you?

no idea what fruit, but i'm 30 weeks and 3 days

    How are your symptoms?

i seriously feel like the most boring pregnant woman ever.  i feel pretty normal.  i have noticed that now when i sit the kid is right in my ribs, which does't really feel good.  otherwise, i can't complain.  no real symptoms to write home about.

Any new milestones to report? (feeling a foot, feeling baby hiccup, etc)

i've felt hiccups for several weeks now.  nothing really new except i feel like it's gone through a growth spurt in the last week.  i'm amazed at how big it feels already and even more amazed that it's going to DOUBLE in weight in the next 10 weeks.  it just blows my mind that i can put my hand on any square inch of my abdomen and feel a baby.  there doesn't seem like much wiggle room anymore.

**Have you taken any birth classes/did you find them worth while?**

we've taking 8 out of 12 bradley method classes so far and i have LOVED them.  i feel as prepared as I could possibly feel.

  • What fruit are you this week/How far along are you? Today I am a pineapple, tomorrow I'll switch to a squash I think.

How are your symptoms?  Some heartburn and a lot of pelvic pain are my only complaints.

Any new milestones to report? (feeling a foot, feeling baby hiccup, etc)  LO seems to have shifted or something.  I looked more pregnant three weeks ago than I do now.  It is kind of nice because clothes are fitting a little better.

**Have you taken any birth classes/did you find them worth while?**  I did when I was pregnant with ODD.  I would never try to talk anyone out of them, but the labor and delivery/childbirth class ended up being a waste.  I don't think there is anyway you can really plan for that the first time!  If it will ease your mind though, I think it is helpful.  I also took the newborn class and a breastfeeding class.  Those were much more useful.

DH and I married 8 years. Mom of three, stepmom of one.

  • Happy Friday!

What fruit are you this week/How far along are you? 33w, I guess I'm a durian fruit as well. 4 weeks till 'Full Term'.

How are your symptoms? The MS that returned is getting better. Heartburn hasn't been bad in the last few days. So, feeling okay today.

Any new milestones to report? (feeling a foot, feeling baby hiccup, etc) Movement has been pretty consistent the last few weeks, nothing new to report.

**Have you taken any birth classes/did you find them worth while?** I didn't take classes with DS and I'm not taking them this time around either.

I'm a durian fruit as well...what the hell is that thing...33 weeks.

    How are your symptoms?

Eah, I seem to be okay. Biggest complaint is digestive issues, the pepcid I was prescribed isn't working as great as it was before. But then again, lunch yesterday was pizza and dinner was pancakes. I'm thinking my chosen diet is causing the greatest of my woes.

Any new milestones to report? (feeling a foot, feeling baby hiccup, etc)

I lost my mucas plug last Tuesday (ah!) and the baby dropped a few weeks back. Kind of scary, but I'm not dialated or thinning out, so I'm thinking baby is staying put for a while. Hopefully. Cross your fingers. I managed to convince my doctor to give me a third ultrasound since at 20 weeks we were told 70% female (whatever that means) but all the old wives tales say boy! It's really important for my husband and I to know what we're having, so this has made us pretty happy.

**Have you taken any birth classes/did you find them worth while?**

We took our first class last Tuesday, and I think it's 10x more helpful for DH than me. A lot of how I'd like this birth to go was outlined in the class, which I think eased his mind. I didn't want to have to drag around an IV with me if I didn't have to, and poor fella just could understand why not.

And other things, like how I wanted to be able to birth in whichever way felt comfortable, and my reasoning for not wanting an epidural, was all discussed. I had the impression that he might of thought I was a bit of a wingnut in this regard, so it was nice for him to see that the hospital will be completely okay with my decisions if it's safe for us.

And, we're really snuggly during that class! She has us sit on the floor and relax, and that's really nice :) Too bad my jitter legs get out of control at the end of the day when I'm relaxing :p

  • What fruit are you this week/How far along are you? 30 weeks and  cucumber, bit I have never seen a 17 inch, 3lb cucumber.

How are your symptoms? The nausea returned. I felt the need to paint the baby's room.

Any new milestones to report? (feeling a foot, feeling baby hiccup, etc) Hard to sleep because he NEVER stops moving.

**Have you taken any birth classes/did you find them worth while?** I have my class tomorrow and the BFing class next weekend.

  • My baby is apparently the size of a cucumber! I'm 30 weeks today.

All the usual symptoms: I'm still getting full super fast. Super irritable and tired. Heartburn. Peeing ALL. THE. TIME.

I felt hiccups for the first time about a week ago, and again the other day. Something about that is so cute.

I haven't taken any childbirth classes. I'm still debating on whether or not I should.
